Ngoc Nguyen Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 I have 42043 and 42030, both of which have straight 6 engines. After putting them on display for a while, I drove them around again. I noticed that the pistons have become so stiff inside the cylinders that they couldn't move one bit at all. I did try some lubricant, but the problem doesn't seem to be dust. It looks like either the pistons have expanded, or the cylinders have contracted. Anyone has this problem? Quote
Imanol BB Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Try to clean the sides of the pistons and the inner sides of the cylinders, it has happened to me , sometimes the moving parts get covered from a very thing layer of dust which is almost invisible, and this dust sticks very hard with these parts, i recommend to clean all the parts with soap and water and then use a towel to remove the remaining dust, it should give the parts some extra space to move without too much friction, it has worked many times to me and i hope it works as well to you. That is odd - as this is not happening with old sets - I have number of them (pre-suddless era) and some are not been "driven" for more then 8 months - where one of them is lovely covered by dust :) I just move it and no such issue spotted - all move nice and smooth.... bonox Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 perhaps the Americas have more agressive dust than Europe? Quote
Imanol BB Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Another reason that i could think is in the crankshaft, maybe there might be something causing friction in it, could be dust, or a misprinted and/or misaligned axle which causes all that friction. Quote

I removed all the pistons from the crankshaft, and tried pushing each of the piston through each of the cylinder manually. None of the pistons got through. Quote
