TitusV Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) This year, @kabel decided to bring his Thorshaven lay-out to Brickmania Antwerp one last time. As a kind of salute, but also because it seemed a lot of fun, I decided to add two more modules two it. There went a lot of effort and nightwork in this MOC to get it ready on time, but I think the results are there. Special thanks goes to @Blufiji for the mental support, and credit for the techniques used go to @ZCerberus and @soccerkid6. CC is very welcome, enjoy! My apologies for the bad images, taking pictures at a convention is very hard. ---------------------------- One of the most important sources of income for Thorshaven is trade. But with the raise of the Desert King and the troubles in the east, Mitgardian merchants have opened new routes. The Avalonian merchant classes are very happy with this new opportunity, and it doesn't take long before an Avalonian quarter springs up close to the docks. Thanks for looking, more images can be found on my Flickr Edited November 20, 2016 by TitusV Quote
Niku Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 It looks fantastic it really is well built and detail taken care. Loving the roofs and the dark colors. I would suggest more light for the photography so we could appreciate it better. :) Quote
Brandon Stark Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 This is a magnificent build. The buildings are distinctly Avalonian, yet have Mitgardian features, which help set it apart from the Mitgardian parts of the city, but also makes it fit well into Thorshaven. Your minifigure posting is also well done. Quote
Legofin2012 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Very nice, full of wonderful details! The ZCerberus influence is clear on the building, yet with your own style combined. And the whole display just looks fantastic! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Really great addition to Thorshaven, which is great to see again The mainly timber look helps set it apart from the original Thorshaven modules, though the similar layout ties it in well. My favorite detail is the angled section of harbor wall Quote
The Maestro Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 This build really shows your personal style but I can also see the influences of other builders. The Tudor work is amazing and not using the normal white is on all of them is very effective. The wooden house is probably my favorite. The detail is awesome and the various scenes going on are a great addition. Can't wait for your next moc Quote
Blufiji Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Great addition to the city, I like the choice of colors for the houses, and the lively atmosphere is very nicely done. Quote
Garmadon Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Very nice build, Titus, the woodwork and Tudor are probably my favorite of yours yet, and the variety of house styles really helps the build a lot! Excellent job making it fit in with the rest of Thorshaven as well, which - as SK said - it's great to see again! Keep it up! Quote

More light would indeed add a lot, but I always ad too much light so it reflects in the bricks, wich I don't like, so I go for no additional lighting. I can't wait for my next MOC as well, I'm trying something special (note: trying is something completely different from succeeding) 10 hours ago, Blufiji said: Great addition to the city, I like the choice of colors for the houses, and the lively atmosphere is very nicely done. Slegengr Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 This is very Avalonian, TitusV! The Tudor-style buildings are nice on this harbor. This street fits Thorshaven quite well. The different techniques on each building make a unique appearance while still fitting together. The activity of this harbor certainly adds to the appeal! Quote
mrcp6d Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Wow, all the modules look great together! The only thing I've got for you is to block up the back of the buildings, light is leaking/flooding through in a couple of pictures. Quote

Henjin_Quilones Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Looks great, Titus! I love the way you have integrated your build into the rest of the layout, keeping many stylistic aspects intact (such as the pier and walkways). You have managed to blend Avalonian and Mitgardian features well. My primary bit of criticism is that the roofs are a bit too studdy for my liking; using more tiles there would have improved the look in my opinion. I would also avoid using the light bley grill bricks for stonework, especially in confluence with the 1x2 log brick and 1x2 masonry brick, as well as SNOT tiles, since there are just too many textures going on in one wall. The build as a whole looks great, though, and I think it is very fitting sendoff to Thorshaven! Quote
en_zoo Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 .. what can I say? HQ has a point about the wall texture, but hey I'm literally in love with those houses! I think you've given me the final push to try out some of those techniques myself - I can't stop looking at them The activity is also a very nice touch and I really like the idea of adding to Thorshaven ^^ Quote
