Kim72 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Hi all, I've just bought set 42000 from the internet. It was a sealed box. However, it seems some copies are wrong. The pistons are more an egg yolk color than bright yellow for instance. Also in the instructions black beams seem to be dark grey. Is this normal for this set, or might I just gave bought a fake?. Kind regards, Kim. Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I bought some 100% original sets, and pistons yellow seems to vary. Sometimes it's bright yellow, sometimes it's some kind of dull. Quote
Boulderer Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 As far as the instructions are concerned, black and dark bluish grey are notorious for being difficult to distinguish between. It my just be that, nothing more sinister. Quote
Jay Psi Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Yellow parts are notorious for colour variation, more of my pistons (in sets from the last 3 years) are an "eggy" yellow so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. I would be concerned that yellow parts vary so wildly, but that's another thread... IIRC, 42000 is a 2013 set? Recent (2015-*) instructions have made black and dark blue grey much more discernible, but 42000 came along too early for that change. Quote
Kim72 Posted November 19, 2016 Author Posted November 19, 2016 Thanks for the replies, lot less concerned now ? Quote
Gnac Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Have a look at them under UV light for a surprise... Quote

Boulderer Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I think you may have got off lightly with those pieces ... pun intended! Quote
pyro690 Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) Yellow sucks. I have got yellow parts off of the PAB wall from two different bins that didn't match when I got home. Same Tile. Edited November 20, 2016 by pyro690 Quote
zux Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 For unknown reason LEGO started producing pistons and crankshafts in Bright Light Orange instead of Yellow now. Quote
