I figured since I saw a couple town layout topics here I may as well post mine. It is not as big as I would like it to be yet, but those are the only tables I have for layouts right now. So that means no running trains or monorail yet. But I will get there one day.

That's a really cool layout! As Phoinix sais: it's so green! *wub*

Mine is a mixture of brown grey and yellowish white. :-X

I love the tents, they are much more effective than the set ones made out of cloth.

And the schoolbus is sweet.

Great work!

Very nice table town, Brickadier General.

I really like the mixture of City and History themes *wub*

How long did it take to come to this stage (i.e. how long have you been working on it :-$ )?

Thank you all for the compliments. I really appreciate them.

Yes, the little guy in the lefthand corner is the car from Back to the Future. And the yellow bike came in set 6420, Mail Carrier. It came out in 1998, I believe.

I have a lot of yellowed white bricks lying around too. Sometimes I get lucky and the yellowing is on one side, so I can hide part of it. lol I have heard bleaching bricks can help fix that, but I don't know if I'd do that. Not sure what the long-term effects are. The lego cloth tents are alright, but yeah, they are probably better suited for modern scenes. Making them out of brick is probably cheaper too.

I guess you can say it took about two years. A lot of the things I have built were sitting around for almost that long (most of the vehicles, and I had the church together around then). The Shenmue House and my one original modular building, I've had together for about a year. Cafe Corner and Market Street were quick additions since they were sets. And I finished the two split-level homes about 2 weeks ago. I've had other buildings that came and went since then, but at some point or another my things have made their way to a PennLUG train display. This is just the first time I've really displayed what I had as a town. So it is a long and on-going process. But you know what they say...Rome wasn't built in a day. ;-)

One thing that is annoying about building a town layout is that there just seem to never be enough trees. I used practically all my foliage pieces, and now I need want more. lol

thanks for sharing... i like looking at users city layouts - it's fun to see what we do. the subject matter of yours makes this a very unique display. i really like the pine tree made from the palm leaves.

definitely keep a running update on this thread. i'd like to see the prgress.

Wow that's a fantastic layout, I love all the details and ideas like having the Ghostbusters there and the guards playing baseball is a very nice touch.

I love this genius way of making a minifig wear shorts and socks:

Another layout, yes!

I'm like BrickMiner, I really enjoy seeing layouts!

Your city is not so big, but very well made: a downtown area, a suburb one with small houses, and some great details everywhere! We don't know where to look at! It's full of life, with funny touches.

So, *y*

That is a great town Brickadier General! My favourite part is the Japanese styled houses, they are just stunning! You must have put a lot of work into them (and everything else!). I wish I had more greenery so I could make brick-built trees and gardens... :'-(

Awesome work, a real inspiration! *y*

Thanks. I got the idea of using palm leaves from other builders. They make nice trees, and you can make pretty large ones for a far cheaper price than using the little foliage pieces.

I will update as it grows, but since college is starting up again, it might be a long time before I add too much to it. I guess I should probably cover everything with plastic so it won't be all dusty by then.

I cannot claim the idea of that either. I borrowed that idea from other builders too. I've seen many other nice ideas for minifigs like using the little pointy 1x1 modified plates as shoes, and a pivoting head effect under a helmet.

Great scenes! Those trees are fantastic. I like the way you've made many rare MOCs like the church, the bus, and the lawnmower!

Funny pic with the lawnmower.

Hope you do expand it some more. You need a new table. :)
