captaintau Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 7667: Imperial Dropship From Episode: Expanded Universe, Rise of the Empire era Year of release: 2008*** RRP: $10.00*** Pieces: 81*** I am very surprised to find a review for this not already having been done. One of the new 2008 sets, it compliments the Rebel Scout Speeder. I Quote
VBBN Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Thanks for the review, but where are the pictures? Quote
zz-80 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Minifigs: 7/10 Would be much lower, were it not for Mr Shadow Much lower without the shadow trooper? So you're pretty much fed up with stormies (can one have too many? ;-)) or is it the quality of the figs? I'm just wondering why you would rate it much lower then, because the intention of this set is to build a stormy army. Quote
Shadows Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Good, straightforward review of a simple but useful set. I'd personally say 7/10 for minifigs is right, but I'd actually go the other way and give it an 8 if it had just included 4 stormies, and a 9 if 2 of those had sandtrooper gear. I don't care for the shadowtrooper that much, go figure. Still, it'll be nice having a few more cheap. *y* As for the stickers ... *sigh* Not only are they annoying to apply, likely to peel and wear, and just generally cheap looking, but I think it's also why we're getting stuck with those blasted smooth slopes now as well. I really hate them, especially in this case. I wouldn't have minded having a big pile of parts with imperial and rebel logos on them, but instead we get a standard spare part and a sticker that I don't want to apply. >:-( All in all, the set redeems itself with the minifigs, but otherwise... bleh. :-/ I called it in the Imperial Crapship for a reason. :-| Bottom line ... I give the set a surprisingly high 7/10, purely for army building: I've wanted piles of cheap stormtroopers and I'll get them. Now how about cheap E2 clones and snowies, huh TLG? I promise to say nice things about those sets if you make them. Honest. ;-) Quote
KimT Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Great set for army building. Except that here in Denmark it's priced 129,75 DKr which roughly equals some 25 USD :-X Again the overpriced European market destroys the idea of army building. *n* *n* *n* KimT Quote
zz-80 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Wow and that in THE Lego country... *n* How high is your VAT? In Luxembourg these sets cost Quote
Shacala Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 There is one factor of this dropship that I think people are missing. It is so easily mod-able that it is scary. The bench that the troopers are supposed to sit on is easily detachable and switchable to an array of different payloads. In a couple of days-weeks I am going to be rolling out some different mods for this ship. Quote
jifel Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 i might get this set, although bionicle is dominating my view, and get this set again and again just for cheap stormies. jifel Quote

Lord Of Pies Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Thank you for the review. This set is currently listed as the next Lego set for me to purchase, as I have bought the Rebel BP. Quite a few people seem disappointed by 7667, after years of complaining for a stormie battle pack! Remember after all it is just an army builder and not a space ship set, although admittedly I thought their would be 4 stormies! |-/ ;-) Quote
casewindu Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Thanks for the review CT! I have just bought this set and the rebel battlepack from lego.com They are about Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 May I ask why no one has brought up the topic of the new stormtrooper helmets(shoot me if it's been mentioned already, but it ain't at least in this topic)? Btw, the model can go to hell(yes, I can live with it! Take that, Imperial Crapship! >:-) :-P ) but coincidently, all the figs in the set but the shadow trooper are new in at least one part! :-D Quote
Wout Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I'm very Happy with 3 stormtroopers with nice weapons for a sets that's only +/- 14 euro (x1,4= almost 20 usa dollar). It has also a blackhole stormtrooper which is not bad, because I never would buy the tiecrawler. And even the design of the dropship is not bad. So I see no reason to complain :-) Quote
Mofo Jones Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 The figs are good in this set but I agree that this should be called the Imperial Crapship. Quote

I got this set today and I do believe that Mr. Felth may be correct! The printing on the stormtrooper helmet is ever so slightly different to the ones we've seen before. From a distance or in the right light they look identical but the difference is there nontheless.Awesome set by the way. Not too much of a rip-off in the UK and I for one love the Crapship. I could have done without the stickers, but I can think of many other uses for them apart from this model so I don't mind too much. I can't wait to see Shacala's mods. Quote
Shacala Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 They are being delayed a bit, I've had a pretty nasty case of strep throat and I have been working long hours at the lab to make up for the work I have missed. Although I have 2 of the 10 mods done. Quote
Hewman Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Wow there are some harsh judges on these cheap sets! The shadow trooper is beautiful. Sure the ship isn't quite as nice as the rebel's ship, but I have to actually say that the stickers work pretty well on this set and I'd rather have had them than some blank pieces. The plate on which the stormies sit is a little flimsy but hey I'm still grateful to get a half reasonable ship in a minifig set. The pieces on the whole don't seem quite as useful as thsoe that come with the rebel ship, but 4 cool figs for a reasonable price seems like a good trade-off to me. I give it a solid 8/10. Quote
