Medieval Custom Figures

I thought I'd try to make some Crusader torsos for my MOCs. These are my first attempts at making decals, so I went simple and just started off with a cross. I just blue tacked the decals as I still want to use the printed torso, so it doesn't really look like it's stuck on well.

Anyway, here they are:

Teutonic Ritterbruder (I coloured the back of a bat helmet with black pen, but don't worry, it can be washed off :-$ ):

Mounted Teutonic Knight (I couldn't find a template for an oval shield, so I just traced around a shield and drew on it. I anyone could find one, that would be great *sweet* ):

You've made your first steps into the world of customization!

And judging from this initial work of yours, you can become really good at this.

You've made a great first step! You certainly understand the process and got the proportions right. The colors are even pretty close! What I think is important is to keep going from here. They are clearly a first try and there is a lot of room for improvement, but now that the first step is out of the way, you're on your way to creating great ones. You seem to be limited by your printer. That's always a pain. I have printer problems as well and that stops me from producing the ones I want to produce. What are you using here? It seems almost like you are gluing paper to the pieces. Do you have access to mailing labels? Before moving onto decals, see if you can get your hands on mailing labels, they can be very effective. I can't wait to see your growth from this first phase. Have you considered more elaborate designs yet or will you be sticking with the more classic stuff?

Thanks *sweet* I've blue-tacked the decals on, as I don't want it to be difficult to take them off again. I'll see if I've got any mailing labels, although I don't think so. These were just my first attempts, so I went with a simple design, but I'll be giving my decals more detail next time.

Nice! My favourite is the mounted Teutonic Knight. *sweet* Although the shield could be cut out a bit smoother, and maybe the flag could be printed smoother, but for a first try this is very good! *y*

Thanks, iamded. I couldn't find a shield template on the internet, so I hand-made it. Does anyone know where one is?

These are just great. I like the french soldier and the mounted toutonic knight. Nice job on all of them.
