I was after a kitset I could sell from a local gallery during the tourist season, and decided to have a go at the New Zealand fantail which is something of an iconic creature here. The model features a poseable head, wings, and tail, to give it some character. The internal structure is rather complicated, with studs in all directions, clips and click hinges for the tail, and an internal 3-wide shoulder section within a 4-wide shell. The DBG slopes behind the eyes and the tan 1x4 wings are rare in these colours, so they will need to be subbed out to bring the price down on the final model.

I've redesigned this model to make it better optimized for selling as a kitset. The new version below uses only 119 parts instead of 216, yet it is only a little smaller and is actually a much closer match to the size of the real bird. I have made 50 copies of this model to sell locally and at future Lego shows.
