JamesJT Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) My dream Porsche would be a Smart Roadster Edited September 7, 2016 by JamesJT Quote
Vectormatic Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Very nice! im not sure how the motorcycle tyres would work on a trackday though, you'd end up with an absolute tyre eater with electric power, and it would be one slidey beast, like 1950s GP cars. Quote
JamesJT Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 ^Yes, I want a car that I can 4 wheel drift round any corner. I expect 165 section tyres would be quite cheap to replace. Quote
TheMindGarage Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Nice so far! After my current MOC, I'll start work on my first entry. Unimaginatively, it's a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but my aim is to make one with lots more features than the LEGO set (tuneable suspension, 4-wheel steering, better gearbox) and smaller (1:10). Quote
Lox Lego Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 This is a fantastic design. You've used some of the panels in ways I would have never imagined. Can't wait to see the final product! Quote
JamesJT Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 (edited) The new chassis is almost done. The only difference between the front and back will be the steering ratio. Edited September 7, 2016 by JamesJT Quote
JamesJT Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 (edited) I added most of the body and with just 2 M motors for drive it is still too fast for my kitchen (or may be I can't drive) It does slow down when steering so I will have to add an extra battery box. I like the way I can rev the motors before dumping the clutch. Edited July 10, 2016 by JamesJT Quote
Sylvian Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 (edited) That panel trick doesnt impress me anymore But the car looks lovely so far, i like the shape of the b/c pillar very much, and the doors and bodywork look solid. Edited June 27, 2016 by Sylvian Quote
MaxSupercars Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 (edited) The body looks great so far... I like the version with 4 XL motors. 2 L motors would be a good compromise, but they are probably too long for this config. I would place them in front of rear axle. Or is this place reserved for something other? Suggestion: buy the LiPo battery. You will see how much more performance you become. LiPo is very powerfull... Once you become it you will ask how could you live without it... :) Max Edited June 27, 2016 by MaxSupercars Quote
JamesJT Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 That panel trick doesnt impress me anymore... ...bodywork look solid. I know, but I have so many of these panels now, I have to keep using them. The body does survive frontal impact well! :) I like both your ideas. The space in front of the rear axel is for the back seats. 2xL motor would fit and there may be room under them for the extra battery box. I keep looking at LiPo but the price puts me off, maybe I should just go for it if they are really that much better. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 I keep looking at LiPo but the price puts me off, maybe I should just go for it if they are really that much better. Go for it! I have two which I got over the last three years, and they are worth the cost. Quote
JamesJT Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 (edited) I still have the dashboard, door mechanism and some structural work to do but I've got everything onboard and I managed to keep the 3 seat configuration. LiPo's ordered. Edited July 14, 2016 by JamesJT Quote
MaxSupercars Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 OMG. How I love that doors and all the new "seat" panels. :P And LiPo... yes you will see... :P Max Quote
JamesJT Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 (edited) LiPo still not here so I started on the interior. I did some scaling to see how big the real car would be; Wheels base 2700mm Track 1575mm Height 1530mm Length 4550mm Seats 810mm wide All good except that means the wheels rims are 26"; this is a concept car so I think its not so bad. Sylvian Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I love it,. Really like how the bodywork almost has no gaps whatsoever,. As a porsche, i see it as an affordable 9?? Positioned below the 911, maybe even a hybrid. The position of the turning signals also reminds me a bit of the 914. Quote
JamesJT Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 ...Positioned below the 911, maybe even a hybrid. The position of the turning signals also reminds me a bit of the 914. It's a full electric car positioned under the boxster. It's MY ultimate Porsche so it has to be affordable! I took bits from all my favorite Porsches and 914 is probably top of my list. Too Subaru or should I buy 2 more gold wheels? Quote
Jim Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I think you can do with an extra set of two gold wheels Do you have a clear picture of the rear? Quote
JamesJT Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 (edited) The sun went away so they are not as clear as the pictures I took earlier. ...and I forgot to put the diffuser on. Edited September 7, 2016 by JamesJT Quote
Jim Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Looks great! Time to change your signature....I only build in blue, and sometimes with a touch of gold Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 That is another very nice angle, it shows the excellent way you have used the panels...I love it! Quote
Lox Lego Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I'm not sure what I'm jealous of more, your design ability, your scaling ability, or your panel collection Quote
technic_addict Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Car looks amazing! This is the second car I have seen using those panels over the fenders to look really good. I personally wouldn't go with the Gold wheels. As you said, too Subaru'ish. Quote
Buddy010702 Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I'm not sure what I'm jealous of more, your design ability, your scaling ability, or your panel collection Same here! This looks good! Quote
