Joebot Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 My son got three new sets for Christmas, and two of them were missing entire bags. I've had sets missing a piece or two over the years, but never an entire bag. And it happened TWICE this year! Thankfully I was able to exchange both defective sets at the Lego Store in Schaumburg, IL without a problem. TLC's customer service continues to be excellent, but man, their quality control is going right down the crapper. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 This is alittle off topic but I recently found one of the horses in my Cyclone Defender box. *wacko* It seems you have a title to match now! :-) Quote
Matn Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 The gate in for the big doors in the Hogwarts 4757 was cracked! And the face of Ron had a scar in his face (not a printed one, offcourse :-P ). I sended a mail for replacement parts and I got one back that I will get them soon, but I didn't get anything yet. That's the only set there is something wrong with. Al the other 85+ ones didn't have any defects. Quote
ExoBuilder Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 It seems you have a title to match now! :-) I just noticed that, thanks Hinckley! :-D Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) I just found out a head (the exo builder sig fig head!) has a curious scar on the back! I just found out, when looking for a head to build Exo-builders sig fig! Edited January 8, 2008 by Lord Of Pies Quote
Username_Taken Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Did anyone else get the DSS for "Crab Crusher" in their Aquabase? Because I did... 8-| Anyhoo, I just noticed Exo-horse, hahaha nice title Exobuilder! U_T Quote
illspace Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Did anyone else get the DSS for "Crab Crusher" in their Aquabase? Because I did... 8-| Anyhoo, I just noticed Exo-horse, hahaha nice title Exobuilder! U_T No, but I recieved a crab crusher inside a castle seige box, and I recieved a skeleton tower inside a skeleton ship attack box. These are in addition to other missing pieces and missing minifigs througout the years, mainly on the castle line. Quote
Derek Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 What!? How'd that happen? Were they full sets? That is so strange... DP8 Quote

Username_Taken-They manufactured the DSS for the Crab Crusher and Aquabase Invasion to be the same one. Quote
Siegfried Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 The best story I have ever heard was a guy on Brickset who found Mistlands Tower in his Sentai Fortress box. :-D Quote
Lt. Veers Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I was missing one of the concave connector pieces on the MT-21 Mobile Mining unit, instead, I got three of the part that connects to it! *wacko* What's DSS? *wacko* Quote

Naith Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 off the top of my head i can only think of 2 sets ive had problems in 1 was the joker + batwing parts were missing from the helicopter so i had to use replacement parts from other sets 2 was the new city cement truck 1 of the pieces looked like it had been melted or something and was completely unusable Quote
illspace Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 What!? How'd that happen? Were they full sets? That is so strange...DP8 Yeah, full sets. I exchanged them both with the retailer, but I thought it odd that I had a completely different set inside another set's box, but the exchanger at customer service said 'it happens'. Quote
Lt. Veers Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Dreaded Sticker Sheet. *sweet* Oh, yes. I forgot. :-$ *shivers* Quote
brickzone Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Well, I would say the most annoying issue was a crumpled sticker sheet with my Lego City Harbour. I also find the variation in tan brick colour on sets such as Caf Quote
zero1312 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 When I bought my Wizard's Tower set, the wizard's beard was missing and guess where I found it: In a Starwars AT-AP walker set I bought some time later. >:-( Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 At least you happened to have found one! I have had no such problems actually. I think I have one odd piece I remember it, but whether that was caused by myself when I was younger or TLC I will never know. (or remember) ;-) Quote

Brickmaster Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Since the topic came up, Almost every recent large set I've gotten came with a crumpled sticker sheet and horribly bent up instructions. Usually causing me to put them under something heavy for an hour before I can start building again :-$ Quote
Iced Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 did not find any defects in any sets yet :'-) Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 When I bought my Wizard's Tower set, the wizard's beard was missing and guess where I found it:In a Starwars AT-AP walker set I bought some time later. >:-( Not sure why you'd be angry about that. I'd call that an amazing stroke of luck or an incredible use of the force *yoda* . Still, LEGO is fantastic when it comes to missing bricks. I have never had any trouble with their customer service dept., and both times I've had sets that were missing bricks, they were quickly replaced without questions. Quote
LordGalewind Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Knowing that we all find the defective part, missing piece, crumpled instructions, miss-colored parts, and explosives in our sets there is one defect that I find the worst of them all............................. The Designers! Thinking about it there are good sets and bad sets. Lego over the years has continued to make improvements in its set designs and the diversity of the sets. But they also have succumb to things such as juniorization, poor set construction, etc. This is quite notable in a few themes in recent years. Technic used to have great functional sets such as the super cars8880 :'-), 8448, 8446 off roader, the space shuttle, barcode multi set, the air tech claw rig, etc. The advanced functions (gearboxes, springs, and sadly pneumatics) have been dissappearing and are being replaced by less functional sets. Bionicle has also seen some declines. Take the Inika for example, clone sets, reuse of parts, poor set designs (....what happened to the nuva this year?). To say the least some sets are still superb above all, and I do like many of the new designs. It is the target audience the designers are going after, the money they can make, whatever floats their boat. If you want to find the root of the problem, you can blame the creators for that. Quote
