Widdi Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Got up at 6:00 am yesterday, since I needed fuel. I started my car at 6:40am and drove down to austria, since they've got lower prices for gasoline then in germany. After the fuel stop, I went up to the valley of the Wildschoenau area at 800-1180m asl, hired my skis and was ready by 9:30 am 1. Ascend to the middle station and some training Just after getting into the cable car (not those SF-trams), but an aerial lift. Got out at 1250m asl, for some training, since It's been over four years since I went downhill skiing. So just some runs on the blue pistes. Pictures taken while ascending and in some short photography breaks View to the south face just above the valley Ascending with the lift snowy ranges all over the place View to the right side scenic view near the middle station View to the valley and the partially snow-free south face Scenery at the blue piste The valley again, this time shot from the blue piste back light above the snowy forest Lodges just below the t-bar to the blue piste Scenery A range behind the forest 2. Ascend to the mountain station and skiing until the afternoon After the training at the blue pistes, I backed up to the middle station and took the cable car up to the summit. Then I went skiing on the red pistes in the upper parts of the Schatzberg range, including crashes X-D , but never got injured, only a face full of snow some times ;-). Pictures taken between noon and ca. 3pm Lodge just below the cable car Wide piste to the valley, seen from the cable car 130cm of powder at 1780m asl. Winter Wonderland 1-3 My skis View into the valley Stunning views all over the ridge taken on the run down to the Hahnkopf chair In the lift: the skis hold tightly! At the start of the red Hahnkopf piste Later at the summit chairlift: Lodges below Back lighted forest at ca. 1700m asl. Here comes the sun *sing* Scenic view again, shortly before the second rest at a lodge Contrast: The green Inn valley, to the snowy mountains Zoomed Clear views at 1880m asl. 3. On the run down Later in the afternoon, I skied back to the mountian station of the cable car and then on the connecting piste to the Thalerkogel T-bar. I skied the piste down twice and then down to the middle station with an detour on the blue Hohlriederalm piste. After that, i went on the second part of the valley run, which was icy in the lower parts, causing a crash in the middle of the piste Clear views again at apprx. 1750m asl Wilder Kaiser ridge in the background some haze in the lower grounds, caused by some kind of an developing inversion Beautiful winter views at the Thalerkogel piste the Mountain's shadows moving into the valleys view to the upper range Scenery just before dawn 4. Travelling home to germany After a rough ride on the lower valley slope, I got back to my car at ca. 4pm, for changing shoes and then into the ski rental bringing the hired skis back. After that I stopped at a local supermarket in Oberau, buying a drink and then home to Munich. Blue hour in Auffach village Christmas tree and a view to the mountains. mFg Widdi PS: Winter on!!!!
