autohost Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) Hi everyone, this is my first post. I have always wanted to have a taller knight so I created this taller minifigure, can be used when you need some god of war or someone real big and strong in your army. Compare to normal minifigures: Detail is here Please visit my flickr here https://www.flickr.c...os/8784871@N02/ Thank you. Edited May 10, 2016 by autohost Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 That's a very clever brickbuilt big fig design I like how you used the skelly torso as the core Quote
LittleJohn Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Really nice work here! Definitely makes him look much more intimidating, might have to use this design sometime Quote
Actor Builder Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 (edited) Nice! I used to make a whole bunch of Large Figures like this. Some of them were pretty great, I made enough to where I eventually decided they were like a pantheon of LEGO gods. Maybe I'll make some vignettes for them or something and post them someday. Good job, and welcome to here! Edited May 11, 2016 by Actor Builder Quote
gilvader Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 @autohost, Do the legs match up in height with the long legs from Woody (Toy Story) or are they taller? This could be great for a custom tall Sauron figure. Quote
autohost Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 (edited) Thank you for your comments. I don't have Woody but i think the legs now is about 6 x 1 plate tall if you know what i mean:) I can add 1 more round tube brick on each leg to make them taller i think, but 2 would make it a bit unnature tall for a human being maybe. Of course Sauron is a different story. Edited May 11, 2016 by autohost Quote
MAB Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 (edited) You can do something similar by adding round 1x1 bricks or plates to regular minifigure legs too then feet on the bottom, if it is all hiding under capes. Obviously using plates gets you more height control. Edited May 11, 2016 by MAB Quote
AmperZand Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 You can do something similar by adding round 1x1 bricks or plates to regular minifigure legs too then feet on the bottom... Or just a 1 x 1 plate for a small boost in height as in some of the minifigures in the following pictures: For a minifigure-shaped bigfig, you can mod a keyring-torch if you're willing to go non-purist as in this oni: Quote
Actor Builder Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Amperzand, why is Turtleman bending over like that? Is he just asking the Big Guy to kick him in the butt? Quote
autohost Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 AmperZand where did you get that huge guy? Quote

AmperZand Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Amperzand, why is Turtleman bending over like that? Is he just asking the Big Guy to kick him in the butt? The turtle-like minifigure represents a creature from Japanese folklore called a kappa. They're often portrayed stooped over, hence the pose of the minifigure. Quote
gilvader Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) You should do the other yokai too. Your Kappa is awesome AmperZand. Edited May 14, 2016 by gilvader Quote
AmperZand Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) You should do the other yokai too. My minifigures are mostly based on European/European-inspired fantasy, mythology and folklore (with some Arabian and Egyptian in the mix). Despite the pictures above, the Japanese part of my collection is relatively small. I do have minifigures that are anthropomorphised animals including a tengu, a kitsune, some hebi, a bakeneko, some inugami and a tsuchigumo (the latter three among other minifigures in this picture: http://www.brickshel...14_cmf_mocs.jpg ) but they're more generic, European or fantasy (e.g. D & D) versions, and not the way they are traditionally portrayed in Japanese art. Your Kappa is awesome AmperZand. Thanks. It's kind of you to say so. When I saw that Star Wars head and the TMNT shell, they just screamed "kappa". Apologies to the OP for the threadjack.
