I was bored at work, so i started browsing BS... and found this peculiar ship:

02.jpg

here's the rest of the folder

i think this is a gutsy MOC: sails in plates, no typical hull parts... the techniques this guy is using are older than most fans on EB, but together with some creative thinking, this guy turned something pretty old looking into a pretty nice boat! :-$ now this is what i'd like to see more in the future... may every pirate fan read this X-D

Consider it read! :-D

This indeed is a peculiar ship. That's probably why it's so nice.

I believe I've never seen that hull technique before, it looks great on this ship, and I think it would also look good on viking ships, although I'm not quite sure if it would work on an Age of Sail ship.

I love that plate-made sail on this ship. *wub* It's great, especially the torn parts.

But there's a question I have about the crows nest: Do those baskets have studs IN the basket? To my knowing they don't, but still he managed to put on the highest part of the mast.

Marvelous find Snefroe!

I really do love this. It's amazing not only for the building techniques but for the action shot and composition of the photo. What I find interesting, though, is that the ship is studless and the sails are not... :-D :-D :-D I would like to see different sails on it just for added realism. But, truthfully, the plate sails do work for this particular MOC.

This is a great scene! The first thing that struck me was how Hippotam made the floating chest and barrels, very cool! An interesting and cool mix of Vikings and Crownies for the troops, which look quite nice. The torn sail is also really cool! 8-

That's a great creation, full of details and action, with some very interesting techniques! I *wub* the surface effect of the 'water'.

Btw, at first glance I thought it was another creation by the builder of the soldiers-on-ice scene :-$

Great job, Hippotam *wub* And another fantastic find by snefroe *y*

I'm quite impressed by this MOC! Brick built ships usually have a tendency of looking rather crude and bulky, but I'm surprised how well this ship turned out. Even the plate built sail really complements the MOC. But my favorite detail has to be the barrels and chest floating in the water! *wub*

Actually, yes those baskets have studs inside, four to be exact. ;-)

A most interesting find.

You certainly did something useful at the office ;-)

The techniques used in this ship are remarkable.

But also the water, and the way objects are partly under the water, is quite impressive.

I've seen this now, so no need for any copying of these technique in the pirate forum :-P

I love this! I saw it on BS before you posted, and immediatly recognised it as a guaranteed CCCV entry - the quality and style...It also reminds me of Soldiers On Ice...I guess the horizontal use of blue bricks...

That is an amazing ship, I love how he has done the ship on an angle, so it looks like some large monstrosity is pushing up underneath it!

Thanks for the find!

Every time I take the time to look at the pics, more and more details jump out to me... Anybody noticed the blood gushing out of the tentacle that's been hacked off by one of the soldiers? :-D
