Forresto Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka Episode XI: Escape from Kuat [i wrote a slightly longer intro then normal so I feel it's appropriate to put in spoilers for those who don't care to read it. If you wish to see the full MOC scroll to the bottom and open the spoiler comment beneath "Behind the Scenes"] My unit lost two thirds of it's complement while fleeing the trenches of Echo Base. The Imperial walkers rained such a fire upon us as we fled those icy fields that showed no living thing quarter. If the walkers weren't terrible enough, battle hardened snow troopers pursued us, separating and picking squads apart in the panicked stampede of our retreat. We lost more men and women running then we had standing and fighting in the battlements. Somehow, the gods of harmony willing, my surviving comrades in my unit and I managed to find our way to the last transport before it evacuated. Hoth was a massive disaster not just for our morale but also in the sheer number casualties the Empire inflicted. The Alliance's main officer corps was decimated with most platoons and battalions no longer battle capable with current complements. A massive reorganization was performed out of necessity with new battalions and officers appointed to reform the cohesion of the Alliance military. I was assigned as the second combat engineer of Mynock platoon, the other being a rather reserved Mon Calamari by the name of Takasa. Mynock platoon was commanded by a resilient commander, Doran Hesall. Rumor had it that Captain Hesall had served in the Imperial army for many years before deserting to join the Alliance. I didn't talk much to the humans, in fact Takasa became my only friend in those days. Mynock Platoon was given it's first orders to be part of a major raid operation against the Empire's main shipyards surrounding the planet Kuat. The hole from which the wretched star destroyers were spawned. The same kind that burned my world. I was more then excited. For the first time we would be striking back at the Empire. We deployed with sixty men along with eight other platoons of equal size carried aboard the Nebulon-B Frigate Revenant. We were to land on the surface and infiltrate an Imperial starship architecture database and steal as much data as we could. Other rebel units would be engaged in other operations within the Kuat system. I'm unsure of what happened but everything went downhill from the moment the Revenant entered the Kuat system. At first things were going according to the plan. We boarded our smaller transport vessels as the Revenant reached the proper co-ordinates and the transports disembarked, everything seemingly undetected. It was only once our transports entered Kuat's gravitational pull did the Imperial's spring their trap. Two Star Destroyers, hidden from our sensors behind the moon, blazed towards us. We didn't stand a chance. Five of the eight transports were immediately destroyed from their guns, one successfully escaped, while one other and ours were shot down. We never learned of what happened to the two platoons that weren't destroyed in space, most likely captured. Fortune smile favorably on us however. Our transport crashed just several clicks from our target, the Imperial Database facility. We made the trek. The Imperials at the base never expected us, and after a short battle we easily overwhelmed them. Unfortunately one of the officers managed to send out an alert before we could stop her. With Imperial reinforcements en route I suggested that we take the mainframe with us and leave and we did taking with us an Imperial prisoner. For a month and a half we fought and ran and hid looking for transport off world. During this time skirmishes with the Empire whittled our original 60 troopers down to about 20. When all hope was lost fortune smiled on us again, twice. In our daily march across Kuat's many dense forests, Kuat's only other topography besides agriculture, we discovered an abandoned landing pad from the days of the Republic. On the pad was a fully fueled cargo vessel, with slight damage to the engines. That was when the Imperials arrived. "Forward men, wipe them out! Show no quarter, we only need the stolen equipment!" "Hold the line!" "They're hiding behind the Republic vehicl-Ahhhh!" "Hold still i've got you!" "How are the engines coming Takasa?" "Almost done!" "Hurry your megablocks, the Imps aren't going to sit around politely waiting for you to finish!" "You there, Bith, what's your name Forresto have you been able to hack into the database yet?" "Bleep bloop beep beep!" "No sir, sorry sir, these Imperial encryption codes are much harder then I anticipated. We'll have to take the mainframe with us!" "Fine! We'll just bring this and the Imp officer we caught back to command!" "Done sir!" "Engines are warming up! Orders sir?" "Finally! Come on people we ARE leaving! Takasa, Forresto get that thing on board! We'll cover you!" "Of the 60 troops that came to this rock, we left with five. We completed our mission successfully and yet I cannot get the taste of defeat, and loss of life, out of my mouth." LucasLaughing Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I'm really digging your builds and stories - your intro here is really well written, and I like your minifig posing and action scenes. Glad to have you a part of SoNE (even if you're building for the wrong side ) Quote
