Zusammengebaut Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Hello, Star Wars 'The Empire Strikes Back' is such a great movie. So, it is fun building this new Hoth set. If you already own some parts of this set (4 in 1...) this might be different. But it is a fun build, so far. My review will be online, soon. And this is the unboxing - with the instruction manual, the bags - an overview. Best wishes Andres Quote
Forresto Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 If this set was 200 I wouldve considered it. Seeing all of those bags and pieces makes my heart feel a certain way. Quote
YellowCorvette Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Wow, that's one hell of pieces in the set! But other than that, there's nothing really that impressive about the set. This set feels more like a part pack for me and even that the price tag is way too expensive for what you get. Quote
merman Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 When you have no sets like me is it worth 279€? Quote
YellowCorvette Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 When you have no sets like me is it worth 279€? I don't think that this set is worth 279€ at all. The build isn't really impressive compared to other UCS sets, the minifigures isn't really that unique, and most of the stuff in this set has already been done in earlier sets. Quote
Zusammengebaut Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Thankfully, we have recieved a copy for our zusammengebaut.com review. This set isn't availabe, yet, but will be in May. I will post my review later on. Have a nice day Quote
jhaelego Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Can't wait for the review. While the set is kind of a letdown, I'll be picking it up for the Wampa, Taun Taun, and minifigures. Quote
Zusammengebaut Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) Is it out now? how did you get it early? Press copy for my zusammengebaut.com review. The set will be out in one week. I am nearly done. And, surprise? This is a fun build so far! Edited April 23, 2016 by Zusammengebaut Quote
DarthTwoShedsJackson Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 (edited) Danke für das Video, Zusammengebaut! I have one question that I have to ask: Does the instruction manual include a page with all minifigures of the Star Wars wave, and if yes, is the REBELS-version of Ahsoka Tano or possibly the Seventh Sister from the REBELS show included? If that's the case, you might not be allowed to post a picture, yet, but a description would be appreciated. I like your videos, and I have a suggestion for improving the visual quality of your videos. As they are now, the lighting is a bit dark and greyish. This might not be due to your lighting scheme, but to your camera settings. Use the white-balance option of your camera - it should be included with any decent-quality camera nowadays. It mostly works like this: Choose the white-balance option in the menu, then focus the camera on the white background you use in your videos, and the camera should automatically adjust the image recorded so that the chosen background appears almost a bright white. At the end of the day, this is just a suggestion - these are your videos after all, and if you prefer them how they are now, that's fine. Keep up the good work. analogkid81 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Looking forward to the review. I'm on the fence about it - waiting for some real world photos and videos to make the decision. Quote
Jayoheazy Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 This is up there with the Classic Batcave in terms of high price vs value for me. You can't really display it, so what does one do - play with it? Quote
analogkid81 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Same here - I collect UCS to display. Unless it can be put together like the Endor Village (which looks great on display) I will probably pass. Not a great display piece otherwise. Quote
Markalus Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 This is up there with the Classic Batcave in terms of high price vs value for me. You can't really display it, so what does one do - play with it? Lol. One could play with it if it had some semblance of an imperial "assault" force...which it doesn't. Quote
Flandy Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Perhaps there will be another, less dissapointing UCS set, "imperial assault on hoth" set. I'll probably get this, as apart from the recent 75138 Hoth attack, I have no Hoth based lego, so to get a wampa + cave, tauntaun, snowspeeder, hangar, other stuff, and some minifigures, it's probably juuuust about worth it, over piecing that together from old sets. Quote
Lobot Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Thanks Zusammengebaut, I'm looking forward to seeing your review Interestingly, Brickset has published an article called 'Assault on Hoth: is it all bad?' which states: 'Ahead of our in-depth review next week and its release on May the 4th, LEGO has sent us a list of the set's highlights and unique features, which might persuade you to give it a second look'. Perhaps TLG are getting concerned about the overwhelming negativity that it's received from the AFOL community? I've said it before, but I'm very much in two minds about this set. I love all things Hoth, but this is just a incoherent cluster of smaller sets that are lacking in the sort of appeal that a UCS should have. In addition, the RRP is ridiculous - I appreciate that TLG has every right to make a decent profit, but £219.99 is indefensible. I'm almost tempted to email TLG and ask if they'll supply the extra parts for the missing 'fin' of the shield generator free of charge - I wouldn't mind it in a playset, but this been designated as 'UCS' and it should be suitably accurate! It seems that we've got 75% of a set for 100% of the cost! Quote
Midlife-crisis Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 @Lobot totally agree! don´t see the value here, i wanted to buy this set but the more i see about it the more i´m convinced to buy just the minifigs for my hoth project. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Got to love unboxing, it's always the most fun part, just spreading the pieces everywhere! As someone that has most things from this set apart from the unique minifigs, it just doesn't interest me enough to get it when there are other sets with more individuality calling out my name, but for someone that doesn't have any Hoth stuff, I can see the draw to it. Just gutted it has a snowspeeder instead of an AT-ST. That would have quite surprisingly potentially swayed me to considering it. But, it is interesting TLG have already hinted that they recognise the negativity towards it. Hoping they might have learnt... But then, who knows what the sales figures will say. Quote
Midlife-crisis Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Press copy for my zusammengebaut.com review. The set will be out in one week. I am nearly done. And, surprise? This is a fun build so far! is it true, that the snowspeeder is bigger than the door? Your Video looks like. Quote
Calanon Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 is it true, that the snowspeeder is bigger than the door? Your Video looks like. It looks to me as if it should just be able to. I'm presuming the door can open slightly more than that and he just stopped. If it can't... well... that's a huge flaw. Quote

Zusammengebaut Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 Hello, my Zusammengebaut review of 75098 is online - 20 images. After all: A fun build! An AT-AT is missing, there are too many shooters. But the rebel base is fantastic. This is a playset, which includes many, many parts of an iconic movie. I have uploaded many images - my article (in German). Best wishes Andres Quote
Lobot Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Hi Zusammengebaut, thanks for the review The RRP is ridiculous though, I really don't understand what TLG were thinking. SW LEGO is expensive, and I'm usually more than happy to pay a premium, but this is simply too much. It doesn't look like a UCS set - perhaps if it was another 1,000 parts and they'd focused the design on the hangar then it would be worthy of the label - it's just too unfinished. I've merged both of your recent threads together, as I don't think that they need to be separate. Quote
Zusammengebaut Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 I've merged both of your recent threads together, as I don't think that they need to be separate. It is much better this way, I didn't know, how to change the heading. Thank you! And thanks to all the others for your comments. The hanger by the way is a very fine build, much larger than I thought. So I am not a big fan of every part of this set (way too much shooter...), but I like many details of it. Have a nice day Andres Quote
