The holiday train is a push train, so there are no motors in it.

It is, more or less, prepared for a 9V motor. Simply take the tender, remove the 6x6 plates and everything beneath those, and place the remaining body, using 1x2 plates on the motor's decorations, on top of the motor.

You can download it from here. Interestingly mine arrived today. *wub*

Well, that's better quality images. Thanks, Sinner :-$

Mine has yet to be shipped |-/ . I called Customer Service yesterday and they said thay've a lot of stuff to handle in Denmark for Christmas orders, so it may take a little longe than usual. Hope it will arrive soon :'-( .

I want him also, but I already have two trains and i don't have a Visa card to order one. And besides, an 9v motor apart is a bit expensive. I'll just buy the 9V tracks before they are all gone.

i would like to buy the train too but the tracks and motor are so expensive. $97 just to motorize it. if they also cut that into 1/2 i'll definitely buy the train set! $90-$100 in total for the train (i.e. train + tracks + motor) is more my price point.

Quick (?) question,

What would I need in order for the new holiday train to run around a Christmas tree? I mean, that's not included with the set.

Does it run on 9v tracks? What else is needed? I'm just talking about a basic loop of track, nothing too fancy for now.

Absolut train novice, sorry. 8-| 8-| 8-|

Thanks!

You'll need the set itself, two packs of power-conducting curves for a (very) basic oval, a 9V transformer/speed regulator, a 9V motor and this thread for instructions on how to motorize the train.

In other words, 10183 is a push train with no motor, no power-supply, no tracks and no longer in production! As a novice you should absolutely also know that both 9V and RC trains are discontinued, as they are being replaced by a new train system that uses the newer power-functions system. Check this thread for more info on that.

It's all right, buddy. Just don't make it a habit. ;-) Thanks. :-)

No worries, I won't. I don't want to get punched in the face!

Um, on Bricklink, just go for the 9v tracks? Also, when purchasing a speed regulator, do you need to buy anything else? AC power adapter? Connection to the tracks? Or should that be one item, or is it self-contained?

I think I lucked out on the motor. I have one from the '92 Metroliner set that I bought in a bundle of used LEGO. That's something anyway :)

Thanks again!
