Hinckley Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 8118 Hybrid Rescue Tank Review Enjoy guys! I am working on more. Maybe we'll have the 8112 Battle Arachnoid next. The comics will be around eventually. Sorry for all the delays and the teasing. I appreciate your patience!! Quote
ExoBuilder Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) Hah screw patience! You're the best Hink! I can't wait for the comics. Edited November 28, 2007 by Exo-builder59 Quote

Piranha Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Great Almost finished review *y* Thanks for doing these, since you are probably busy However my favorite part is missing, The comic!! :-D Interesting set, however I never liked exoforce but I like the parts Wait On! Piranha Quote
Smithy_Boy Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 sweet. caant wait for all of these sets to show up in the u.s. uh... he got that in the US. Quote
KMOI Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 From the LEGO Store in Chicago, if I recall his post properly! My goodness Hink, you're going to pull an all-nighter for reviews at this rate! Oh well, it's kinda worth it, right? :-P Quote
Corvus Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Another great review, Hink! Looks like a great set. The cockpit isn't sealed and is actually aggravatingly unrealistic as it leaves the drivers chest vulnerable to enemy fire. Actually the cockpit lacks any controls as seen here where it looks like Keiken is simply pounding a counter demanding food. :-D "Gimme food! Or else my friend up there willl shoot your punk- @$$ into mars!" Well, I guess that explains why there are no robot snipers in EF. If there were, well.... Wouldn't be much of a story, would there? X-D Quote
Lt. Veers Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) Darnit, Hinckley! >:-( You always make us wait for the comic, which is almost everyones favorite part! >:-( |-/ X-D I just noticed Ryos uniform had a camo pattern. With all the orange he has, it's kinda pointless. Edited November 28, 2007 by Lt. Veers Quote
john cleese Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 this designers were on a roll with this one until it came to the flying unit. It looks like a shambles, epecially the guns looking rather simplistic. Although they used something similar to the light and sound globe peice, which is kind of neat. I dont think I'll be buying this but your review almost talked me into it. Quote

I am not necessarily for encouraging anyone to buy every set I review. :-D But I'm glad you liked it. Thank you. And actually I did feel the same way you did about the flying module, until I put Sinner in it and started to play. Here's a sneak peek of the comic and a cool feature of Ryo's ship-it can be configured in a lot of different ways: Quote
Siegfried Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 This one is much better than I thought; I didn't expect the gun and the "turret" to be geared! I agree that a lot of the details sux (hollow inside, lame cockpits...) but as an overall package it looks quite good. The best part is.... no shooter! Is the nightmare finally over? :'-) The bonus robot is a much better idea. The large amount of blue pieces make this a must buy for me as Impartial needs more raw materials! :-P How well do the tracks work? The last tank was too light and it didn't roll well at all. :-/ Thanks for these photos as well Hinckley. *wub* So far the 08 Exo-Force sets are looking good! *sweet* And actually I did feel the same way you did about the flying module, until I put Sinner in it and started to play. :-P Wow! It's big enough for my big walrus head! *wub* Quote
Hinckley Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 How well do the tracks work? The last tank was too light and it didn't roll well at all. :-/ It's similar in weight but I didn't have to press down so hard to get the treads to move, barely at all, really. I think the Mobile Defense Tank, although a better overall design, suffered from the odd angle of the treads and that was mostly why the treads didn't turn well. Plus, what was with those weird exhaust pipes?? Anyway, they are both cool tanks although I like the Mobile Defense Tank better... :-) Quote
MatthewUSA Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Thank you for the glimps at the new set Hinckley *y* . I saw this set today at my local TRU store. The new slope 1x2 pieces look very *sweet* . I definitly see great potential for these pieces on locomotives. I hope these are going to be bountiful in the 2008 lines. Model On!! Quote
iamded Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Fantastic! Great review, thanks a bunch for all the pics, they've shown me how (in my opinion) bad this set is. :-P I just expected it to be more bricky rather than technicy. Oh well, I wasn't planning on buying it anyway. X-D I noticed you spelt mini-figs mini-fgis in the first paragraph, in case you wanted to know. X-D So again, thanks, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of them, and the comics! ~Peace Quote

X-D Quote
Batbrick Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Thanks for this great review Hinckley! :'-) I know you're loving this attention! X-D :-P I actually like this set, and like it a lot more now that I've seen this review. I'll most likely get, mostly for the figs and parts. I reckon it would look a lot better alongside the rest of the 2008 EF mechs. Anyway, thanks for the review! To the Brickmobile! >:-) Quote
LuxorV Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Thanks for this other great review, Hinckley *y* ! You sure you don't work as one of TLC's PRs? X-D ;-) Everytime I see one of your reviews I want to buy the set, and that is sweet to me, but bad for my money 8-| LuxorV Quote
Asuka Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Thanks for that good review, Hinckley. *y* A really interesting set and a turning point for LEGO. Minirobots instead of shooting crap, pretty cool. I hope the kids Quote
LuxorV Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 For the design, I love that asymmetrical look of the front part and the sleek guns of the flyer. The asymmetry reminds me of the Wookie vehicles in StarWars Battlegrounds... *y* And I see they changed back to the first color schemes for minifig suits, which I think where better than the dark suits of 2007 (except for Hikaru's *wub* ) LuxorV Quote
zero1312 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Can't wait for the extended review!! ;-) Quote
Wout Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Thank you for the review Hinckley :-) Already waiting for the comic X-D Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 1, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 1, 2007 Some of you might know that I'm not a big fan of exo-force, but this set is an exception. This looks like a futurist tank. My kids would love this.... if I should have any :-D As always, very professional review Hinckley! Quote
Brainbox Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I think this is probably my least favourite set of next years selection, but I still might get it, partly because of this review (thanks, btw). I quite like the mini-robot, and while there are a few problems (the front cockpit, the exposed axles) I relish the idea of MODing them out, and correcting them. And the change back to the original figs is welcome. I didn't really get any of this years sets, only last years. Makes it easier from a MOCing potential, anyway. Quote
jifel Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 crap! >:-( now i have to spend all my money on this! *wub* *wub* and whats the code? oh well, awesome set, and judt curios, didnt the reviewers used to be bianca and gavin? jifel Quote
Hinckley Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 crap! >:-( now i have to spend all my money on this! *wub* *wub* and whats the code?oh well, awesome set, and judt curios, didnt the reviewers used to be bianca and gavin? jifel Yes they did! *sweet* I like using me and Sinner better, though. I have put Fabuland Housewives on the back burner for a while, but plan to revive it for the first season conclusion in January. It's nice to see that there are people who really follow it out there. Thanks! :-$ Quote
