Hi all!

Is there really no sensible mechanism to copy-paste parts from one multi-part file to another? It doesn't even work when MLCad is open in two instances with the two files.

I had to copy the parts to a new submodel, export it (by deselecting the other 60 subparts one-by-one) then I could import the model file to the other MPD and copy the parts from it then deleting the export.ldr.

Is it a better way transfer data between files?

I use notepad for editing MPD files,If you insert a comment in MLcad you can then use the file search tool in notepad (CTRL + F to find it).

While this is not a 'real; answer to your question; you can open 2 (or more) LDraw models in LDCad and copy paste between them.

Boy you seem to love LDcad.....

Thanks for the comments, the notepad thing is the best so far.

I wish I had more time, I would really love to take a look at the source code of LDraw programs

I asked a similar ? to the MLCad developer; & got this reply.

'I would like to be able to copy and paste between two MLCAD files.
I am assuming that is not possible.
Is there another way to achieve an end result that equals copy and paste.
I made the mistake of building in two separate files. Thanks, 1963maniac'

"You could include one the models as a sub-model in the other (MPD menu)."

Best regards,

Michael
