I'm sure its real...I assume he got a hold of a few sets early (maybe even a whole case) through his distribution network, and he's scalping them before they're in stores. Happens all the time. I'd assume that in the next two weeks we'll start finding these here and there, and then by the end of December, they'll be everywhere. Isn't that usually how it works?

I really dont understand why someone would pay almost a hundred dollars more to have something they could have for a fraction o fthe price in less than a month or so.....

I remember a certain sith lord told me about this. I wouldn't buy them either....patience is key.

That i did in another thread, his asking price is just plain stupid! In a matter of weeks these sets will be everywhere.

he just needs to make shure his bosses never find out it was him, or he will get fired from his cool job at Lego.

Just because he has them dosen't mean he works for Lego, it could be that he has a shop that was shipped them early by mistake or he might of just got lucky and found them at a shop.

I made him an offer for $25. He'll deny it, but, I thought it would be funny, especially with the email I sent him!!

Assuming it's the former rather than the later, based on my retail work experience, it's often the case major releases are shipped out sometimes one or two weeks before a laydown (i.e. release) date to make sure the stores are prepared to have them out on the shelves. Considering these sets are scheduled for a mid-late December release

Does anyone in the toy retail industry know if such dates are common for new releases, or are shipments just put out onto the shelves as soon as they arrive (hence the occassional early find)?

Either these were found accidentally in stores just as that early Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase or the seller has good connections with local Lego suppliers such as TRU or a Lego store for instance. I am sure the stores already have them stocked up waiting for an official signal to be released (January). And they need to offload the older sets first to make room for them on the shelves.

He has more Lego so maybe he is pre-selling stuff on the internet just to make sure he is one of the first sellers to have them avaiable. Some (internet) sellers apparently do ignore release dates and offer stuff early anyway.

Considering the seller is in Texas, he is nowhere near the Enfield, CT distribution center so that source can be ruled out.
