Batbrick Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Found this set today at a TRU in Merrilville, IN... Will try to get a review up ASAP... :-) ____________ Another one! X-O No offense Hinckley, I dislike the look of this, but I look forward to the review! :'-) Batbrick-wants-a-2008-set Away! >:-) Quote
Brickmaster Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Oh wow, very nice find! I hope the other new set looks better, though.. Looks like a great parts pack in any case, but even though it does look ugly I can see it being fun to play with, and with some nifty parts and such. But nice luck and find on this one! Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 (edited) Hurrah. |-/ I personally wasn't impressed by the MM sets - this one just looks like the same old bad news. EDIT: Btw, is that really Lego? The box art is crappy, and the the design....I smell a fish. Edited November 22, 2007 by Lt. Col. Thok Quote
Siegfried Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Thanks Hinckley! *wub* Unlike many, I loved the Mars Mission sets (not the jellies mind you) and I am glad that there is at least a second wave. This one looks great; minimal jelly distractions, a little probe, another cockpit in that colour... *sweet* Look forward to more photos! Quote
Zarkan Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Unlike many, I loved the Mars Mission sets (not the jellies mind you) and I am glad that there is at least a second wave Same here! Mars Mission had some great stuff as well as some bad stuff, but overall I liked it and also though it deserved a second, smaller year (though, not as small as the 2006 vikings, of course |-/ ). This looks like a pretty decent set. 8 orange wheels, cool alien jetpack, and yet another old windshield recolored in the new trans-orange. I might just pick this up someday... tk's Hinckley! ;-) Quote
ExoBuilder Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I want that! I like the new mini robot as well. Finally the aliens can do something without a vehicle. Quote
Derek Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 How much was it? If it was $10-15 that is a great deal. But I agree on how un-legoish it looks Quote
Hinckley Posted November 22, 2007 Author Posted November 22, 2007 How much was it? If it was $10-15 that is a great deal. But I agree on how un-legoish it looks It was right in-between at $12.99! :-P TRU usually jacks it's prices up a bit so I guess it'll be $9.99 in other places. Quite honestly, I wouldn't have bought it if it weren't 2008 and the first time I saw it... Quote
iamded Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Woohoo! 2008 is so ON! The alien jet-pack is, well, it's pretty cool. I still find that hole in their torso really weird. The mini robot gem collector rover thing is awesome though! :-D I actually like the human vehicles in the Mars Mission line, as orange is my favourite colour. :-) Looking forward to your review! ~Peace Quote
PSPguy Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Whats with the giant drivers head in the cockpit? *wacko* Quote
natelite Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 you didn't see the new fighter craft? MX-41? it's quite hedious though. the cockpit is extended and it shrinks back in like a turtle. the wings are foldable to form the wheels. MM '08 sets are a joke. oh well more money for the good stuff. :-P the cockpit is crap. the pilot has to lie flat like the astro fighter. poor man can't even reach the controls. :-( unfortunately my cell phone doesnt have a camera so i couldn't take a pic. and i didnt want to buy it. Tohst Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 So help me, I like it. Why? Well, it doesn't have the unfinished feel that I didn't like from the other MM sets. It has a stupid alien but at least didn't waste bricks on a ship for it. It has a cockpit that a mini-fig actually fits in without lying down. It looks like a little exploration vehicle. Am I in love with it? no. Kinda a sad little version of Mobile Tracking Station. But I do think its a step in the right direction. -Tohst Quote
Deinonychus Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Wow...I get a very Classic Space vibe off that. I'm sold! Quote
Darth_Legois Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Against everyones opinion i like it especialy the price *y* Quote
hollisbrick Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I didnt really like the first wave of MM but i actually really like this set!!!! It will probly be about $20 in Aus. so i probly have to get it! Quote
john cleese Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 (edited) I think this a really neat little set myself. I agree that it has a very classic space feel. I actually said the same thing when I saw this. Heck I might pick up two of these for the new windsheild. I'm liking 2008 a lot. Edited November 22, 2007 by john cleese Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Thanks for the pics Hinckley!! I do not like the set much, it looks "chunky"! :-D Quote
LegoFranks Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Anyone know if they're making more Aqua Raiders stuff next year? As for this, it's horrible with a capital H. So ugly! M. Quote
casewindu Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I think this set is cool! small but has potensial I think I probably will buy it! I like the classical kind of look to it aswell thanks for the find Hinck! ;-) Quote
snefroe Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Wow...I get a very Classic Space vibe off that. I'm sold! you took the words right out of my mouth! If this isn't old lego space, then i really don't know what is! i don't know if this is what many people are waiting for because it looks like a copy of an old set, but if this a first step to some more "down to earth space sets" with a little bit more normal (space)bricks then i'll take a dozen! :-$ Quote
Bionic-Sun Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I don't have any MM sets yet, but out of all the ones I've seen, I like this the most. Quote
Piranha Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I don't know what to think *wacko* I like how it seems more classic and its cheap :-) Thats about all though... Piranha Quote
Asuka Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 That looks pretty great, thanks Hinckley! A lot more solid that the somehow more hollow looking previous MM set designs.... *y* Quote
Norro Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 This has a very different look for a lego product (or is that just me?) It almost appears to be a $20 concept model/drawing that's been crushed down to the $10 level with the aid of large pieces and a few nice ideas. God Bless, Nathan Quote
