Quailane Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I think lego stickers are fine with water. I had a floating boat that had stickers on it. The stickers survived the water, just not my abuse. Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 minifig sink and stickers will peal off when water is added to the mix (or if it is bad quality it just will look terrible). So it has no real addition to the experience, ever see a brick float (except from the ships that were suppost to float)??? :-D Quote
hollisbrick Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 well...lets hear it *sweet* well when i was about 10 i went to play in the bath tub with my prized posesion (well it was back then) New Darth Vader MF and my Ep. 2 clone figs, anyway when i went to dry my hair i decided to dry my figs as well...baaaaad idea :'-( :'-( :'-( *sad* the reallly sad thing is thats not the only thing i have recked with a hair dryer (do not dry our clothes with one! ;-) ) Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 While normal minifigs shall sink after a few moments of time, minifigs with a swimming vest thingy shall float (longer) :-D Convenient isn't it? Quote
Scouty Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I have always had an understanding that minifigs float. Most likely because air is trapped in their torso and legs. Quote
talonIIa0194 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Hi guy and gals. This is my first post. I am from the U.S and love these forums. I am very close to collecting all the diver sets from 1997 (minus 6441) and i am wanting to put the under water parts in water to make it look life like for my city (currently under construction). I know the boats do not float so I have them on blue base plates joining up with the water. I am wandering if legos can withstand being underwater like that? Thanks Tyler. Quote
zouave Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 As far as I know Legos hold out well under water. When I was little I would build something like submarines and take them in the pool with me. As long as the pieces are put together tight it won't come apart. Hope that helps. Quote
Hinckley Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Welcome to Eurobricks and thanks for posting. We're glad to have you and hope you have fun here! I think the water has to be a certain temperature to cause it not to alter the LEGO. I know I used to take my Fabuland figs in the tub with me...last week or so :-$ ...all the ones I have from my childhood that used to accompany me in the bath have super loose joints not to mention their faces being worn off... But there are no Fabuland figs in Divers sets so I'm not sure I'm doing anything but rambling on and on. I seem to remember a warning on old instruction manuals that you should keep the temperature are 35 C. I could be wrong though, so don't quote me on that. I assume luke warm water would be fine for LEGO elements although the stickers will probably come off... I hope that helps at all... :-$ PS-you should introduce yourself in the Hello...My name is forum... :-) Quote
Corvus Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Do NOT put this year's Battle Droids in water. For my birthday this year, my family figured they'd suprise me by raiding my lair and decorating the dining area with them. For example, the V-Wing, T-16 Skyhopper, and a speeder bike were hung from the chandelier, and a glass vase was filled with basic bricks. This was really nice, but then we come to the problem: They decorated my cake with Super battle droids and the new droids from the MTT. Naturally, their feet got cake all over them. So, I set them in a bowl (all thirty or so), filled it with water, and left it for the night. I took them out to dry the next morning, and then brought them upstairs to put them back into formation. I noticed the next day that the limbs were all slightly looser on the droids, and since then three or four super battle droids have been ruined because the joints broke. :'-( Ah well. Not their fault- it's mine for leaving them in the water for twelve hours. |-/ Quote

xwingyoda Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 we have this topic already dont we? linky Thats why I merged the 2 ;-) I only use water to take away the dust of some sets/parts and that works really well !! I left some random parts for several hours in a glass and nothing happened to them excepet them beeing cleane and dust free ;-) *yoda* Quote
Shadows Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 No no, for proper cleaning, you should always use the dishwasher. With the help of Lego, a giant in the children Quote
