Great work there, Luxor! I totally dig that bug-design.

The only thing I find confusing is the color scheme.

While the lime green mandibles are absolutley cool, the mixture of different grey and bley and black and even copper looks a little frankensteinish.

BTW: Is that a quote from the book? I actually never spent too many thoughts on how the bugs described in the book would look like, as I always had the movie-images before my eyes while reading. But if it

Very nice!

I only know the movie by Paul Verhoeven and the tragic look on mankind in the movies adds well to other movies I have seen from him(Turks Fruit/Turkish Delight, Soldaat van Oranje/Soldier of Orange, Spetters (don't know english translation) and Robocop). I found it a bit weird film. Was the book different?

The bug is nicely done.

A cool scenery with a good flame thrower and an interesting bug design. *y*

Although I guess I would just try to use one of these Wedge 4 x 4 Quadruple Convex Slope Center pieces

(what an indication :-D ) like that cool dark green and patterned one from that giant crab from AquaRaiders or so.... for a little smoother shape. :-)

Thanks all :-$

Yes, the book is quite different: in the movie most of the characters are semplified, and the power-suit theme is totally missing |-/ .

I think you should read it ;-)

That's an idea! It would have a more buggish exo-skeletal look 8-

Yes, it's a simil-quote from the book.

Follow me: since Heinlein said the 'bugs' where Arachnid-like creatures, so I guess they have 8 limbs. Now, 2 are used to manipulate things, and the other 6 to crawl.

So, if you shoot at 3 legs, a 6 legged spider or similar (in reality, spiders have 8 legs and 2 antennae) can still crawl on the other 3, but if you take off 4 legs, it can't. This is because they use at least 2 legs on one side and 1 on the other to move. If a spider has only 2 legs left, it cannot effectively crawl.

Another factor is dimentions. If a big spider-like creature has only 2 legs left, it will fall due to non-functional weight distribution.

Belive me, I studied functional morphology, and a 2 legged walking bug is impossible, if it has a spider-like shape.

Okay, that makes sense. I only studied movie making, so I know what looks cool, but never if it works for real :-D
