richchie Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I decided to build smaal castle for my crusaders (they are one of my favorite fractions since I was child). I try to build this castle as a tribute to old time castle sets from 90´s . The idea was to build something that looks like UCS set from the clasic castle era. hope you enjoy :-) 1 by richchie, on Flickr 3 by richchie, on Flickr 5 by richchie, on Flickr 6 by richchie, on Flickr 7 by richchie, on Flickr 8 by richchie, on Flickr 9 by richchie, on Flickr 10 by richchie, on Flickr 11 by richchie, on Flickr 12 by richchie, on Flickr 13 by richchie, on Flickr 14 by richchie, on Flickr Quote
sander1992 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Nice built. The details in the walls are nice. Quote
Staslegomaster Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Before the first LEGO Pirates sets were issued, LEGO Castle was the most impressive series of all. And your marvelous, classic looking creation proves - why. The combination of stone and red wood looks great. I like the playability of your creation and that you combined a few different ideas. What do you think about not European castles? Quote
HawkLord Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Very well done! I like that it's simplistic and clean, without being boring. There's a lot going on and the details are great. And I'm a fan of the grey and red. Quote
SirBlake Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I really like this. From the scale to the layout to the details, very well done. Quote
Staslegomaster Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I like the ivy and I think a dragon would look great there. Which one of LEGO dragons is your favourite? There are no nice castles in LEGO ideas. Your would fit there, I guess. Quote
richchie Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 thank you all for your comments, i am happy that you like my castle :-) If anybody tell me how to put my castle to LEGO Ideas I will be very happy. thanks Quote
appiah4 Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Looks great! Does it open up or have any interior details? Quote
Dubbadgrim Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Charming build. Great to see the soldiers still marching ! Quote
AmperZand Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) I really like the overall design of the castle: its proportions and features. The detailing of the stonework is excellent, especially the texture of the walls and the curved cornices above the doors. Edited March 4, 2016 by AmperZand Quote
SirBlake Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 thank you all for your comments, i am happy that you like my castle :-) If anybody tell me how to put my castle to LEGO Ideas I will be very happy. thanks If you want to put it on Ideas, I think you would have to scale it back with an eye toward actual production. As it stands, it has too many parts and details to be realistically considered. Put another way, even if it made it to the review stage and was approved, whatever the final product ended up being would be barely related to this build. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 You nailed it. It is modern and classic at the same time. I love it! Quote
LettuceBrick Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I really like this update or tribute. It keeps the same overall feeling but adds modern techniques. It's also a nice counterpoint to the (immensely impressive, of course) rickety castles that have been in vogue lately. My favorite detail is definitely the vines that are climbing the walls. Quote
richchie Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 You nailed it. It is modern and classic at the same time. I love it! thanks, That was the ideat, to build something that looks like old sets but also with new design. Quote
Fletcher Floyd Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Great work, my favourite Knights Era brought back to life in a very classic and very cool Moc! Again, great job! Quote
richchie Posted March 11, 2016 Author Posted March 11, 2016 thank you Fletcher, crusaders are my favourite fractions from old sets too. I was thinking to put to this castle crown knights but they have my second (bigger) castle so I decided to put here my crusaders :-) Quote
Forresto Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 The ivy climbing the walls using a piece normally reserved for tree leafage is an excellent touch! Quote
