allanp Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) Hey guys, was thinking of trying to integrate one of these cope pilot units (from 8479) into a MOC but I was wondering if anyone knew what motors can be run off it without risking damage like from the huge current from a buggy motor. Any ideas? Edited February 6, 2016 by allanp Quote
Saberwing40k Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I'd say even using a pf medium motor is pushing it. It probably would not hurt the unit, as I recall, but I also hear about it struggling with even the motor included in the set. Quote
Blakbird Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I'm pretty sure the unit has current protection so you can't really hurt it by trying. I see no reason a PF M or L wouldn't work. A buggy motor is pushing it. Quote

Saberwing40k Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Actually, you are right. The only thing mentioned was that the robot model did not really work at low speed, although that is more due to the speed control being thru a voltage drop than anything else. And, it was the motor struggling to move the whole model. I somehow got those mixed around. Quote
mzzl88 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 the only thing you need is a cable to convert the older lego motor supply to the newer version of the pf motors, I just bought mine on internet and it is an official TLG item Quote
