LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) Shell, Shell, Shell! Hi everybody, as you know I don't like too much Octan while I'm literally addicted by the Shell's logo and its colors ...so I have realized my personal version of the original lego sets: 3180, 7993, 60016 and the train tank cars from the set 7939 Enjoy the pictures! Justin Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) "Greenbrick" is going to have a field day with this one! I guess the Octan Figs represent those former Octan employees who became Greenbrick activists after their gas station and vehicles were converted to Shell. Maybe they were arrested on-site for protesting. Edited January 30, 2016 by Justin Quote
THERIZE Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Ooh wow, I LOVE IT. I wish I had this myself. Those tank trucks look so nice! Quote
coffeefund Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Nice mod! Why are the Octan minifigs in handcuffs? Quote
LAKAbricks Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 ... former Octan employees who became Greenbrick activists... Even though the cooperation between TLG and Shell has ended (and the way of Shell can be discussed - which I am not going to do here), Shell is still a classic brand for petrol stations in LEGO cities, and therefore your conversions of the sets give an almost nostalgic feeling. It looks nice, LEGO Train 12 Volts. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Those tank trucks look so nice! Thanks THERIZE you're too kind! Maybe they were arrested on-site for protesting. Why are the Octan minifigs in handcuffs? Shell is still a classic brand for petrol stations in LEGO cities, and the sets give an almost nostalgic feeling. Octan minfigs arrested on-site for protesting? This sounds funny No the real reason for the handcuffs is just a joke ...but I like to imagine a fight between the two brand, and Shell remeber me when a was a child with my first Shell Lego set n 690. Justin Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Come to think of it, the licensing deal between Royal Dutch Shell and LEGO was great while it lasted. Over the past 60 years in various countries, LEGO had Shell-branded gas stations and such in their town-themed building sets. Along with the various Esso and Exxon sets, Shell sets are going to be valuable collectors' items in the years to come, since LEGO has shifted its focus towards making Octan-branded gas stations and vehicles. Dutchiedoughnut Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Cool! Quite like home ;). I'm so glad you have 95 petrol, my car won't quite run on 92! Quote
dr_spock Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Well done. This brings back memories. I see you arrested a bunch of trespassers on Shell property. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Shell sets are going to be valuable collectors' items in the years to come Oh sweet music to my ears! I'm so glad you have 95 petrol, my car won't quite run on 92! Lol! I see you arrested a bunch of trespassers on Shell property. Absolutely! Octan in my town is used only for planes and boats ...just Shell for my ground vehicles! Quote

Only Sinner Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I really like the tanker trucks in particular. They look like straight recolors of the original sets, too! Quote
