BusterHaus Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 It seems that you would be able to shift straight from 3rd gear forward to 3rd gear reverse or whichever gear is selected at the time unless there is some clever mechanism which blocks any change unless you are in first gear. It's great for all the times you want to pull a Rockford in your 911:
Appie Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) If this comes out June 1st, can we expect reviews from Jim and Sariel sometime soon? Hope so! This is what I am wondering too, maybe they will provide some info in the coming weeks, when it's closer to the 1st of june. I can already see a teaser trailer of Sariel incoming with a hamster behind the wheel Edited April 25, 2016 by Appie
Cumulonimbus Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) Cool, I really like it. I especially like the fact it hasn't PF nor HOG and that it will be mimicking the build process of the actual car. This really is a big present to us AFOLs. If anybody was wondering what TLG is doing for the anniversary of Technic, look no further. The standard TLG orange wouldn't have been my first choice, but at least it is an eyecatching colour. One question remains though: will this be a limited edition as the 41999 was or will it be available in regular toy stores after the 1st of August? Edited April 25, 2016 by Cumulonimbus
Tommy Styrvoky Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I think I may have figured out how the knob gears work with it, they move along to toggle the selector to the gearbox. 911 paddleshift by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
legoman19892 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 cool, the licensed plate is unique, laser engraved and with the number you can go online and find exclusive content only for that number Thst seems silly. I think he meant the plate numbers lead to the same exlusive content for each plate.
Emmi Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 The only thing I can't get over is the parts used for the paddle shifters ... it looks so out of place ... why couldn't they make a simple new mould that represent real paddle shifters a lot better and would also make it easier to use I believe. This will give most of us a hard time playing with, especially after seeing the designers demonstration - the rubber bands might be broken after a few times because you need so much strength paddle shifter mould where are you???

This is what Huw said in brickset .the material we were sent explicitly states there is no early VIP access and as far as I'm aware it's a normal retail set that, while initially available from limited places only, will find its way into regular shops in August. so is not limited in number. It was, after all, shown at the toy fairs earlier this year, which exclusives and limited sets aren't. Andy D Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I can already see a teaser trailer of Sariel incoming with a hamster behind the wheel Where? Link? Thanks, Andy D
deathman20 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 OOOh nice. Having it black or something similar would of been nice, but after seeing it in orange its growing on me. Looking forward to this... probably later in the year though but still will be looking forward to it.
collinhuygen Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) Im going to slow play it. hope to get it for a good price in the pre sale or something. 300 is a lot, no pf no rc not even 4wd, same price as the fantastic arocs would be o the high end even. It wil look good in te dispaly case!! Edited April 25, 2016 by collinhuygen
dr_spock Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Price is high but Porsche is a premium brand. Porsche could charge LEGO a premium licensing fee. Besides I think VW Group needs all the revenue it can get to help pay for the diesel-gate.
nerdsforprez Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Where? Link? Thanks, Andy D . I think what they meant to say was "visualize"....Forgive me if this has already been addressed.... But the brickset article cited 2700 something pieces but the you tube video clearly indicated 2900. Anyone care to clarify??
Tommy Styrvoky Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) I found a solution. Could someone test this to see if it works correctly in real bricks? I may do a short animation of it if it is correct. ldr file http://www.bricksafe... mechanism4.ldr It also makes sense that there is a centeral knob gear, as if you look at the 2L orange liftarms aren't at 90°. 911 paddleshift 2 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Edited April 25, 2016 by Tommy Styrvoky

Beard Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I think my first mod will be HOG steering and gear changers. Not that I'm disappointed, not at all. I just believe there is a lot of space to create a somewhat stylish HOG implementation.
Tommy Styrvoky Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Would really like to see an animation. I will see about working on it later this week, I have finals, then 4 months of summer for mocing.
DrJB Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I will see about working on it later this week, I have finals, then 4 months of summer for mocing. Thanks. Good Luck with ur finals.
jgw Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) A few interesting quotes "will initially be available at shop.LEGO.com from June 1st, 2016" So no August release date online The sentence below that says 1 august for the rest of the shops. If you read what one of the designers said, he said something about that they have developt a new element in the Porsche that they will be using in the next Technic cars. Wonder what it is? . I think what they meant to say was "visualize".... Forgive me if this has already been addressed.... But the brickset article cited 2700 something pieces but the you tube video clearly indicated 2900. Anyone care to clarify?? The site said first 2700+, but later on they said the original Porsche has 2704 elements, could it mean the Technic Porsche has roundabout 2700 pieces? Just speculating Edited April 25, 2016 by jgw
Tommy Styrvoky Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Thanks. Good Luck with ur finals. Thanks, I wish someone could test this in real life, as I would rather not spend lots of time on something that conceptually seems to work, but doesn't in real life, I have to think about this one for a little bit and make sure that those changeover catches are functioning correctly.
Meatman Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 The sentence below that says 1 august for the rest of the shops. If you read what one of the designers said, he said something about that they have developt a new element in the Porsche that they will be using in the next Technic cars. Wonder what it is? Well, he was either talking about the new wheel hub holders or the new driving ring part that lets them slide.
februar88 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) Could be similar situation with that one Architecture set had a book (being a reason for an overpriced set. And yes, it was available for download (unintentional) for limited time. Well, i just want to say exactly similar thing. 42056 is not a Technic, it's more like ArchiTechnic - new Lego series. bob st-claire 2 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) I do not care about the box, I buy Lego to play with it and build something. To me, waste of money (and space - I do not need such a big box for 2700pcs) Price seems insane, I can get 2 x 42043 or 42043+42030 for that money. And I would end up with far more "Technic" elements (gears, motors, pneu) than with Porsche. Unless there is some magical surprise yet to come, I am out. Shifting looks really cool, but there is very little else. Display model does not interest me so much, not with that price tag. Edited April 25, 2016 by bob st-claire 2
