Paul Boratko Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Not sure if there's a "lot" more honestly You don't think..? It looks like a lot more parts in the rear of the Porsche to me... Just look at all of the stacked liftarms in just the back of it.. There really was no "Back" on the 8070.. Edited January 27, 2016 by Paul Boratko
1974 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Impossible, brown is dead. Chocolate (aka reddish brown) or turd (aka dark brown) would be their options now Trans-clear would be wicked IF it really has a load of goodies under the hood(s) Pearl/metallic grey would also be nice if wasn't for the swirls in that colour I think it's going to be ..... WHITE You don't think..? It looks like a lot more parts in the rear of the Porsche to me... Just look at all of the stacked liftarms in just the back of it.. There really was no "Back" on the 8070.. A few hundred extra grams won't pull down 8 shocks
allanp Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) I think I'm gonna remove those tall supports for the rear wing, make the wing smaller and mount it more directly to the back so it isn't so goofy looking. Or just leave it out completely. Edited January 27, 2016 by allanp
Paul Boratko Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) A few hundred extra grams won't pull down 8 shocks Not sure where you're getting the 8 shocks from, I am just talking about the 4 in the rear.. One on each side would most likely easily hold the body weight, which is why I am assuming that there is some more going on back there.. Edited January 27, 2016 by Paul Boratko
1974 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 It's goofy looking on the actual car Not sure where you're getting the 8 shocks from, I am just talking about the 4 in the rear.. One on each side would most likely easily hold the body weight, which is why I am assuming that there is some more going on back there.. I thought I read there was dual shocks all around. I may have been mistaken - sorry There certainly is a lot going on that we know diddly about. I wonder why TLG thought they could 'sell' this set on the toy fair if the major selling points was not demonstrated? It's crazy expensive compared to the BWE
nicjasno Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Should be more panels, less liftarms. Liftarms just add weight.
Cumulonimbus Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Yes, can you "gulf" it also? Because you asked nicely: It would require a lot of stickers to make it look smooth I think.
1974 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) I owe you a drink, mate. Very good work Since you rock that so hard, I challange you to do a 'martini' also Edited January 27, 2016 by 1974
nicjasno Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 But you need to attach the panels to something Absolutely, but a row of 5 liftarms makes no sense and can be easily replaced with panels.
Mickael Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Although we note the two shock absorbers in the front, it would be positioned as the #42039 : The rear shock absorbers four out:
1974 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Absolutely, but a row of 5 liftarms makes no sense and can be easily replaced with panels. That's true
Cumulonimbus Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 ... I challange you to do a 'martini' also In white Or in silver? (Again, just quick an dirty photoshopping, but you get the idea.)
AlphaX Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 by the looks of it the rear wheels seem to lack a steering option. So i doubt we'll be able to switch between front steer, or front+rear steer.
tibivi Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 i actually really like the purple and dark blue colors, but gulf is also nice. I still think it will come in black or white though.
nicjasno Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Nowdays even a row of 3 can be replaced with panels. And regarding the construction of the whole car, the 5x7 box liftarm sections and other large pieces should be used to increase chasis strength and reduce part count to a minimum. I vote for Blue or Yellow. Edited January 27, 2016 by nicjasno
The Deleter Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 And here I was just going to go and buy a dozen Power Function parts, to build my own decent RC car, finally... and this is announced. And apparently there's talk of some sort of Power Functions 2.0 in this thread? Well, guess I should hold off on that bulk order for now. :S Still, this set is looking fantastic! Don't usually make it a point to buy a very specific large technic set, but if this really does have a fully-decked-out RC setup under the hood, with gear switching and everything, this is a must have for me! Doesn't hurt that the build is packed to the brim with pieces and doesn't leave much to the imagination, unlike a lot of the other technic race cars.
Seasider Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Working in the car industry I love the fact that the initial model has been release in a disguise kit like we normally do in the industry. Wonder what the final car will look like. Might not even be black as I know a few people use black for prototypes How about orange and white like the Gt3 hybrid racer ? Just searched on YouTube and found a video from Lego world with the 24hr race car racing a 911 from 4 months ago. Guess that was a hint! Sorry if this has been already posted or commented on months ago
Flossie Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 As the real Porsche 911 is rear-engined and not mid-engined the flat 6 should be behind the rear axle. This means there is room between the seats and the rear axle for the Power Function elements and then a working Technic engine between that and the rear bumper (sorry fender for those across the pond)
GoldVillage Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) 2 speed gear box!? and what's up with the elastic bands?! that is new... I wonder what's is for... The blue pins really ruining it for me... why not in black!? What is that new crawler in the background? another new set!? edit* YES it is - 42055 !!!! nice :) The rubber bands could have something to do with the adjustable entire steering section when changing the steering wheel back and forth, and up and down. My opinion is that there is no RC. I think they would tell us that at a toy fair. Most Lego R/c are really slow even though they are much smaller than this. My thought is that there is power function to power the fake motor and rear wheels so you can play with the paddle shifted tranmission. I hope there is a new Larger cylinder block for this scale. We need something new for engines. It will not have those stickers either. Steve I think it is, how else would they justify a price tag of around 300€? the reason for the required twin shocks could be a new big motor, a new heavy duty drive line with metal axles, bearings, etc. Edited January 27, 2016 by GoldVillage

1974 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 The rubber bands could have something to do with the adjustable entire steering section when changing the steering wheel back and forth, and up and down. That would be rather pointless in an RC controlled vehicle
davebarrett Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 TLG uses different kind of plastic now so white/grey/blue will not have the same problems as in the old days My Sydney Opera House tells a different story. Some yellowing already.
