Starwars4J Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Hey, so I finally got my decals from Kaminoan, who was extremely patient and helpful with a total noob like me 8-| Anyway, here's a sigfig I've been working on for awhile. It's by no means absolute and final, meaning I'd still appreciate feedback. I'm thinking MAYBE make the eyes a bit larger...though in the picture it looks like the eyes are really high up, I think that's just the angle. In person it looks fine in comparison to the mouth and hair. The eyes are just a bit too small I think But for my first custom decal, I'm really pleased with it! And here's some black falcon knights and generals I've been waiting to pull off I really need to get better at applying decals...but it came out pretty well. I especially like the way the black knights look (the silver ones are generals). The knight helms are LA greathelms. Also, for the hell of it, here's another rebel I made, who might actually fit in a post-apoc world nicely (not like I'm going into the genre though) C&C welcome! Thanks for looking Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Very nice! The helmets arn't done by Kaminoan, right? Quote
natelite Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 wow...you decaled two of them silver euroarmors? i think they came out nicely though i can see where your fingers were less than steady (a slight tear in both decals (the right one is more noticeable) and the left MF's decal is slightly higher than the right's). :-P did you apply a layer of coating on the decal? i like how it came out. it's *y* *y* from me. i don't like the black armors. too dark. i prefer grey or dark grey for armor. :-P the blue helmet seems to be darker than normal but not quite dark blue. or is that just photoshop. :-P i'm not sure... maybe i'm not use to lower lighting. :-P Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 Very nice! The helmets arn't done by Kaminoan, right? Correct, they were Little Armory Great Helms wow...you decaled two of them silver euroarmors? i think they came out nicely though i can see where your fingers were less than steady (a slight tear in both decals (the right one is more noticeable) and the left MF's decal is slightly higher than the right's). :-P Actually, the middle two were the only ones with tears (one silver and one black). It may not look it, but applying a decal to those uneven surfaces is hard :'-( did you apply a layer of coating on the decal? Well, on the heads I applied a clear coat of krylon, on top of decal setting solution. Haven't done the euroarmor with krylon yet, as I don't want to make them too permanent (in case I decide to redo them). the blue helmet seems to be darker than normal but not quite dark blue. or is that just photoshop. :-P i'm not sure... maybe i'm not use to lower lighting. :-P It must be the lighting, I didn't photoshop them, and it's just a normal blue helmet These Quote
Sir Dillon Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Hmm... I guess I'll only be able to whack you from behind now. :-P (:-X) The knights look cool, especially the silver on black. I don't like the blue center piece on the pants, though. Quote
Asuka Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by a line on the negative, you mean the receding slopes on the front? 8-| I meant a thinner black counterpart to the thick black line on the left side of your blazon (for that silver harness version that is). Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 I meant a thinner black counterpart to the thick black line on the left side of your blazon (for that silver harness version that is). Ah, I see what you mean. Basically an outline so the crest doesn't look unbalanced? I could try that, though I kind've like the look now :-D Quote
Asuka Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Basically an outline so the crest doesn't look unbalanced? I could try that, though I kind've like the look now :-D Yeah, exactly. An outline! So easy if you know the right word.... :-P And I Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 Yeah, exactly. An outline! So easy if you know the right word.... :-P And I Quote
Siegfried Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Anyway, here's a sigfig I've been working on for awhile. It's by no means absolute and final, meaning I'd still appreciate feedback. I'm thinking MAYBE make the eyes a bit larger...though in the picture it looks like the eyes are really high up, I think that's just the angle. I think the eyes are at the right height (the eyebrows seem to touch the hair like official prints) but I tend to think the eyes are too small. But it could all just be the angle as the photos seem to be taken at about 30 degrees. For a first it is really good! *wub* Are you going to keep him and make another, or will you blank him? It would be funny to have a collection of slightly different sig-figs; you could do a Lego version of The Sixth Day! :-P The black falcon knights look beautiful. *sweet* Quote

Eventually I'm sure I'll make a few different heads...an "ouch", screaming, laughing...who wouldn't want an army of me? >:-) :-P And yeah, the angle I've found, actually makes the eyes look worse *wacko* It doesn't look AS BAD in person (actually it looks pretty realistic...just not lego-like). I'm definitely redoing it with larger eyes Quote
Siegfried Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Eventually I'm sure I'll make a few different heads...an "ouch", screaming, laughing...who wouldn't want an army of me? >:-) :-P Sometimes I regret having a Fabuland Figure as an avatar as customising Fabuland Figures is hard and limited, and his big head makes it hard to make MOCs for. Don't tell Hinckley, but when I joined I just got the figure and he was the latest thing for me. Thus I took a photo of him as my avatar pending making another. Then that whole bucket thing started and well... the rest is history! I would need to pick something pretty darn good to be able to justify changing it now... 8-| To prove my point, I miss your old avatar. :-P Quote
Siegfried Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 :'-( Big words for someone who changes his head and hat all the time! I was forced to resort to Paint to halloweenify myself, you just changed your head! :-| Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 :'-( Thanks for the comment on my customs :-| :-| Sinner, I'll try putting his head in the armor of my old avatar :'-) Quote
