Widdi Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 (edited) I went to Spitzing lake at 1085m asl. today, to apprx. a half metre of snow. and 75cm on the higher Upper Firstalm lodge. I'll only post a few pics out of the report here and the rest is in a german weather forum (Sorry german only, but the pictures do justice) This is my foot while judging the snow accumulation. it got to almost my knee, so 40-50cm of snow. Snowy house above the lake's shoreline. snow alien ;-) After my walk around the lake (3km), I just had to get higher, so I walked up the trail to the Upper Firstalm lodge, where 75cm of snow awaited me and a nice meal. After that I didn't walk back down, no I lent me a sleigh and sled down. this is actually the date of the pictures written into the snow Winter Wonderland This was my "cab" downwards Full report here (german): http://wettercommunity.foren-city.de/topic...pics.html#52988 Full pics in my maj.com mFg Widdi PS: The 235km of car driving was more than just worth the scenery Edited October 23, 2007 by Widdi Quote
Freddie Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 That's a fair amount of snow. We haven't gotten any snow yet, altough I sort of expect it to come in the next month or so. I'm not very fond of snow, altough I must admit I miss it if there's a winter when there's not much snow, especially in christmas. That particular feeling is hard fought for when the snow isn't there. Plus driving in snow is also a lot easier when it's dark, driving in pitch-black conditions is not fun. One winter I got to ride with my neightbour's snow-plow equipped tractor. Great fun as you can litteraly hear and see everything working from the cab, as the machine muscles its way forward, pushing snow aside - makes you feel really powerful and unstoppable. X-D We used to get up to a meter deep of snow before, some ten years ago, when we moved to where we live now. Now there's hardly any snow in the winters, the last two christmases have been snow-less. :-( Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I'd love to see some snow here, it's been way too long since i've seen layers like that..... I don't even know if i can still skate... :'-( Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Remember - don't eat the yellow snow! Cool pictures, thanks. Dr. S. Quote
zz-80 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Nice pictures!! Personally I hope that I won't see much snow this winter. I liked it as a kid but if you have to drive 50km/day you start to hate it! this is actually the date of the pictures written into the snow written, or... ? :-D Quote
