Fives Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Feels like forever since I've been here! I'm really surprised to hear that we're getting a Niima Outpost set. For some reason I was under the impression that there had been rumors of two TFA sets but that they had been truncated into one, which is the X-Wing. Glad that isn't the case, but I'm seeing some flaws in these sets. The Encounter on Jakku set really surprised me because I thought it was gonna be based on the attack on Tuanal village, and would include Poe, Lor Sann Tekka, and so forth, leaving space in the X-Wing set for a few dirrefnet pilots. However, the fact that we're getting Teedo, Unkar Plutt and another thug is awesome. Plus the Luggabeast sounds amazing. The X-Wing, on the other hand, seems like such a wasted opportunity. I was hoping to see Asty, Pava, PZ-4C0 and another crew member (maybe Vober Dand), and just use a droid head for the astromech. Making the X-Wing be based on the opening scene feels kinda wierd to me. Also, I wasn't aware that Diseny is already working on another animated series. Luckily, I've made the decision to focus my LEGO budget on TFA and Rogue One sets only for this year. Quote

Luckily, I've made the decision to focus my LEGO budget on TFA and Rogue One sets only for this year. The animated show people are referring to is a SW LEGO show similar to Yoda Chronicles. This is likely to be non-canonical. The only canon animated show is SW: Rebels at present. Edited January 24, 2016 by Renegade Clone Quote
Legoman123 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I think the minifigure line up sounds amazing. I am really happy we are getting Gree again as I didn't pick him up the first time around, and it just adds to the exclusivity of the CTT set. It's a shame that we didn't hear anything about the Rogue One sets especially given the amount of sets allocated to that movie. But maybe we will see something at NY. Quote
Gremer Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Even hearing the reports, my opinions still haven't changed. The two TFA sets, the TIE and A-Wing, and the CTT are still my most wanted sets. Even if the CTT is smaller, its size doesn't matter to me so much as the sturdiness. I love my 8098, but its fragile, so if they sacrificed the size to make a sturdier set, that's fine with me. It's the same reason I adore the new AAT. I'm not a Rebels fan, but the TIE and A-Wing are great. Two good looking vehicles (from the prelims) and Tarkin? Too good to pass up. The other two I'm not as interested in, but I'll get sometime. I still need to get a X-Wing, and the other Jakku set sounds pretty good. Quote
getbusybrickin Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I'm actually really happy we are getting a Resitance X-Wing. It would have been nice to base it on the battle at Takodana but this is acceptable. For those who got Poe's X-Wing with the extra pilot, it'd be simple to create a squadron of sorts by replacing Poe with the extra pilot. The prospect of having a "squadron" excites me the most. Similarly to Fives, I was anticipating the Encounter on Jakku set to resemble the opening scene of The Force Awakens but I very much prefer what we are actually getting. I think the Lego's set decisions have actually been superb; with all the sets, one can reenact every crucial scene from the movie. Quote
BigEl Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The only thing I can already critique the Resistance X-Wing for is that we only get a flametrooper without an additional standard stormtrooper. I mean it was a normal Stormtrooper that shot and disabled the X-Wing in the beginning. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Everything is sounding pretty good with this wave. It's definitely not the best, but we have the rogue one sets to look forward to later in the year. Quote
Artanis I Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Not much we didn't already know from the pics, only the Jakku set, the AT-TE minifigs and the Grand Moff. I really want to know what we're getting with the Ahsoka set, and the minifig details for the original sets. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Not much we didn't already know from the pics, only the Jakku set, the AT-TE minifigs and the Grand Moff. I really want to know what we're getting with the Ahsoka set, and the minifig details for the original sets. Are we getting Ahsoka, reading the review it didn't stat thst she was included. I think pics will make it easier to determine the overall quality of the sets. Nima outpost could be interesting to see. Would've been nice to get Zeb in a rebels set, the only one he's been in so far is the Ghost. Quote
YellowCorvette Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Just read the Summer Star Wars sets report from Brickset. 75145, 75147, 75148 and 75150 sounds great and I can't wait to see the final set. The Turbo Tank and AT-TE also sounds good, but I'm a little bit dissapointed that both of them are smaller than the previous Turbo Tank and AT-TE set. Not excited with the blue X-Wing at all since aside for the new function, this set is a total copy from 75102 with only a color and minifigures swap. (Plus, I already have 75102) Quote
fighterpilot105 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The Brick Fan .com is describing the Resistance X-Wing as being "blue and white/gray". I guess we'll just have to wait and see for pictures to know for certain what the colour scheme will look like... Quote
kylosuperfan Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Well... Unless TLG goes with a new Rey in the Jakuu set (which they won't) the only draw is Unkar. So it looks like the only real draw TFA-wise is Poe in his jacket. What about the rumored Starkiller Base set? Quote
atlas Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I really hope tarkin isn't in the rebels dark tan. They need to bin that Quote

RetroInferno Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) I really hope tarkin isn't in the rebels dark tan. They need to bin that Pretty sure he's gonna be grey, or riots Man oh man I can't wait to see that Tie vs A-Wing, very reminescent of 7150, such a classic :D Edited January 25, 2016 by RetroInferno Quote
kylosuperfan Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Starkiller base was confirmed to be the death star. No the Death Star was destroyed. Starkiller base was the First Order trying to improve upon the Empire's Death Star. But I understand what you meant. ;) Quote
Darth Kylo Ren Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I am very excited for this wave, I'm going to see official pictures from NY Toy fair before I develop opinions to Eclipse fighter and Star Scavenger but right now I'm not that excited for them. I think I might pick up Encounter on Jakku in Late July or early August, I might wait a little for the X Wing as I already have Poe's. Darth Vader's TIE might be something I'll pick up for my birthday and I might buy the Turbo Tank a few days after it is out. Rex's AT-TE might be something I have to see before I know if I want it. Starkiller base was confirmed to be the death star. Since when? Quote
Artanis I Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) Are we getting Ahsoka, reading the review it didn't stat thst she was included. She wasn't mentioned because the set she is apparently in is an exclusive (AGAIN), and therefore not in catalogues or at toy fairs. Edited January 25, 2016 by Artanis I Quote
kylosuperfan Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 No because the set she is apparently in is an exclusive (AGAIN), and therefore not in catalogues or at toy fairs. Exclusive as in polybag? Or a set exclusive to a store? Quote
Artanis I Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Exclusive as in polybag? Or a set exclusive to a store? The second one Quote
MartinCliffe Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Disappointed to be getting another Gree instead of a different commander / clone with the CTT (I already have two AT-APs), but otherwise I'm very pleased by the reports from Brickset and others. I'm likely to be skipping the LEGO animation sets unless they blow me away, but everything else ticks the right boxes. I built a recoloured blue / white X-wing already, but I might modify that to be another colour (I also built a red / black one) for interest. Interesting (in a good way) that other than BB-8, Rey will be the most common TFA figure, considering what other toy lines did... Quote
Darth_Brick360 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Well, on the bright side, I have more money for Rogue One sets Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Encounter on Jakku is probably the only good set this wave. Didn't think they'd make a Luggabeast, whatever it's called. Quote
RetroInferno Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Looks like I'm going to have to bricklink that Inquisitor from Rex's AT-TE. Otherwise Encounter on Jakku looks very promising, as well as the new X-wing... Clone Turbo Tank seems fine for those who like the PT, my only wish is that vehicle would have get more screen time in Clone Wars. Both the Eclipse Fighter and Star Scavenger could be interesting if they are based on the old EU designs. Oh well, well see how things goes when we'll se cleaner shots and more info. Quote
