I think he meant seeing a star wars logo on food article (necessities) won't make him buy more or less of that article.

And can anyone confirm the UCS Echo base?

Only information I had was from a Lego store employee who told me it was in the database and would come out in october. Obviously it got delayed or he lied...

75098 Assault on Hoth is coming out next year for sure.

It will be $250 I think.

That Hoth set is pretty uninspired and I'd have thought rehashing the Wampa cave would have made more sense. First year in a decade where I'll be leaving some sets on the shelves. Hopefully Lego haven't become complacent with The Force Awakens making it so easy to make money...

Pretty sure we're getting a new Wampa and Wampa cave as part of the upcoming UCS Hoth set next year, I for one am very excited to see if there is a new Wampa creature either in mould or printing, the last one is great and still looks pretty fresh, but I hope they don't just re-issue it, what're the chances TLG will make a blood-stained version?

Maybe give it a trans-red lollipop as an accessory as a workaround

That sounds good. It will (possibly) mean the inclusion of more non-CW Jedi.

+1000 Bring on the non-CW Jedi minifigures... I'm ready for them

I am really curious as to what exactly will be part of the UCS Hoth Echo Base. If you take what is seen in the Lego Mini Movie without the Snowspeeder and AT-ATs I actually would be quite disappointed for 270 Bucks. The Rebel Fortifications/ Defense Weapons (aside from the forced integration of playshooters) as well as the Shield Generator look decent, but the Ion Cannon and the Entrance of the Base itself look very bland and uninspired, for example the technic parts of the gate are way too flashy and destroy the look.

The Minifgures are probably part of a main selling point, but even so I don´t think that it could rival the old Death Star Playset by what can be assumed at this point.

What's the possibility of a new, perhaps midi sized AT-AT being included? I agree, even with the battle trench, Ion cannon, snowspeeder, blast gates and interior, and satellite wampa cave, it doesn't seen very substantial as a UCS set.

Are they talking Disney's ads, or ads in general, because disney isn't advertising a lot, you're right, but star wars is plastered on everything right now

The article specifically referenced the Disney advertising budget for the movie itself.

All the rest of the stuff out there doesn't cost them a dime... Actually, the opposite. They get paid for the licensing on Force Awakens potato chips or whatever, but we know that from our LEGO habit. Apparently the budget is higher outside the US, where Star Wars is more ingrained into the pop culture, compared to places like China.

Definitely ready for Thursday night, regardless. The we finally get to see how screen-accurate (or not) these sets have been.

Promobricks have in-hand pictures of 75138, I'm hesitant to call it a 'review'. I like the back of the box pics with Han Solo attacking the Snowtrooper with a shovel full of snow.

That looks awful.

I agree, from the video, the Hoth Echo Base looks like a bunch of things you'd get in a smaller set just all together. I was hoping for a full complete base. We have already gotten enough trenches and turrets, but all we ever get for a base is the door and sometimes some walls. The wampa cave should also be its own set.

That's what I was thinking

Well I see that making the Hoth Echo Base into a minifig scale ucs set is difficult since its build in a "real world" cave and consists of many walkways, meaning that the base itself doesnt have many key elements that are suited for a ucs set.

I could have seen it as kind of mix between the first "playset" death star and the second "display" death star, meaning to build part of a hillside with the maingate and the ion cannon build into, that looks good for display and on the other hand build parts of the main hangar where the ships and snowspeeder stood with mechanical structures that could be used with sets like the snowspeeder and x-wing. Also i would have loved to get a proper represenation of the command room in minifig scale with its unique look.

I can totally see that by approaching those ideas increases the partcount really really fast, but maybe they should have invested more parts to create an around 300 Bucks/ 3000 parts set, that focuses on the base itself without the rebel fortifications, that werent even really part of the base but instead stood on plain fields nearby/ were above the underground parts of the base.

Given the price point for the proposed Hoth UCS set, it will probably contain about 2000 pieces. If you add up the previously released 7666 Rebel Base, 7749 Echo Base, 8089 Wampa Cave and 7879 Echo Base, those total 1,773 pieces. That is quite a bit of Hoth, including 2 snowspeeders. Therefore, I would agree that there should be more to this Hoth UCS than what is shown in the mini-movie.

To add to your point, I don't think TLG would create a massive set and give it an unofficial tag of UCS by adding multiple small sets together. I really expect this base to be along the lines of Ewok village. Hopefully we get an unveiling soon

The Snowspeeder is possible to been included, but I don't think that any inclusion of a AT-AT is possible since the AT-AT we seen in the mini movie is the same one like 75054 and it's already been built from more than 1000 pieces.

I really don't see a Hoth set including an AT-AT... especially one that's in an odd scale. Seeing as it looks like there'll be at least one Snowspeeder Pilot that may, unfortunately, be something that's included.

There is a strong possibility that a snowspeeder will be included in the UCS Hoth set because Snowspeeder 75049 has been retired.

Already?

I don't think its too difficult. They have the right idea with the main gate as the centerpiece. For me the main problem is that the side rooms aren't substantial enough and the base feels incomplete as a result. A larger command center in addition to the Medical Bay, Tauntaun pens and power functions to operate the gate would go a long way to improving the set.

Think 7879 Echo Base but with the main gate in the center where the hinges are, and the level of detail you'd expect from a set like the Ewok Village.

I wish the First Order battle pack had another standard Stormtrooper instead of the Crew or the Officer figure.

For a battlepack that set has very little army building capability. The heavy trooper is nice but should not have been included in a battlepack, maybe Battle Of Takodana instead

This guy? They looks like they will work as the new Imperial Navy Trooper, they look good, but i don't want to army build them for now. We'll see how much of a role they have in the movie soon

STAR-WARS-THE-FORCE-AWAKENS-First-Order-Bilder.jpg

There is a lot of them to the right of Hux though, so they could work for a first order display

yes that one. he's in the tie fighter set too isn't he? i dont mind nontrooper figures, but maybe they couldve given us only one in kylo's shuttle.

Fingers crossed for a big-megablocks FO ship (nu-star destroyer?) in the next wave then
