legobear Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) I compared 2008's Cargo Plane with 2006's 2928 Plane and found that 2928 is built much better. Take a look at the hinge on the left side of the plane that allows for the tail to swing out in order to dock goods. Also notice that the roof top in 2928 allows for easy access to the cabin area. Why didn't they include these hinges in 2008's Cargo Plane is beyond me... Do these hinges really cost them that much? These images were linked from brickshelf. Now THIS should be a cargo plane. Chuck Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) By the way, here is a picture of 2008 cargo plane for the convienence of other members :-) -Chuck Edit by Hinckley: just wanted to change the pic to make sure people didn't confuse legobear's sentiment. He is comparing the blue and white plane to the new yellow plane... ;-) Edited October 10, 2007 by Hinckley Quote
Siegfried Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I think your being a bit premature here. Without knowing the price of the new set it's hard to compare... Besides, you can only see one side of the plane; it may actually have those hinges! Quote
Brick Miner Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 while i think the blue and white plane is a much better design, who knows... i think we have already determined that these images were only preliminary dealer catalog designs. so lets hope they make some adjustments for the real product *sweet* - BM Quote
Landlubber Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Are you comparing the tiny little blue and white plane to the gigantic green one? Quote

Derek Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Remember 2928 was never widely released? Since there was a reletively high demand for it maybe lego made a similar one for retail... DP8 Quote
Batbrick Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Remember 2928 was never widely released? Since there was a reletively high demand for it maybe lego made a similar one for retail...DP8 ____________ It probably wont hae any great opening feature but I will love it anyway, because it means TLC hasn't stopped making four-wide planes in favour of JUMBO ones! :'-) Pretty annoying that 2928 wasn't widely released, I thought they would be seeing as they would have sold well *wacko* TTFN! >:-) Quote
zouave Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Think about it for a minute. If Lego made all their planes with the same basic design where would we be then? I don't think it will be too mush trouble to remove the roof of the plane and put it on again. :-| Quote
Chuck Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I kind of see your point, but remember: Lego is a building toy, meaning that it can be modified. You don't have to keep it as-is after you buy it. You can probably just make it the same design as that small promo set, if you see to it. I don't mean to be rude, but come one, guys :-/ The purpose of Lego is to encourage creative building, so you should expand upon what you have if you don't like it. -Chuck Quote
Brick Miner Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 The purpose of Lego is to encourage creative building, so you should expand upon what you have if you don't like it.im not sure chuck... for me, that's not fine in may book... LEGO's other fundamental is (should be) that it inspires building. if LEGO took the approach that they don't have to design good models because the consumers would alter their toys anyway, we would end up having a bunch of part-packs thrown together in a real hodge-podge mess. i for one want good solid models, that when i see it on the shelf, i say "wow, now that would be cool to build. now that's inspiring." if i see a bunch of junky models on the shelf, im not inspired, at all... in fact, i would look for another hobby. something where the creators care about their end product.though, maybe LEGO is just looking to make part-packs... i kinda of think get a feeling when i look at the new castle line. me, i don't like that. i get inspired by quality solid models... city 2007 did it for me, thats for sure ;-) - BM Quote
the overseas kiwi Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 It looks like ill get this and rebuild the passenger plane as well Quote
FreeBee Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 On this pic it looks like TLC has placed hinges on the roof !!!! Quote
