Dovchenko Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I don't want to spend too much money on LEGO Pirates, there's video games and other crap. Besides, after an 8 year run, I'm moving on and getting a few old sets before my departure. No doubt I will always love LEGO, and if I have a kid, LEGO. So long as the sets stay good. I was thinking of, over a period of time, buying: Eldorado Fortress Caribbean Clipper Sabre Island Harbour Sentry (X2). I was just wondering what you all thought of my choice- whether I should get more, or whether I should just get these. I don't want a big huge tub full of bricks again, but I want enough to remember it by. And of course, I guess I'll stay on the forums for a little while. Quote
Scouty Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 That looks like a good list! Maybe trying to get one of every faction: Pirates, Soldiers, Guards, Islanders, Spanish Armada. Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) That looks like a good list! Maybe trying to get one of every faction: Pirates, Soldiers, Guards, Islanders, Spanish Armada. It's a bit of a problem there. Firstly, I haven't been in pirates that long. I was born in 1994, and though I did once collect King Kahuka, I like the guard guys. But I may just buy the fort with the CC, then perhaps a large enemy ship. I really don't know, and if someone could come up with a list of things, that'd be dandy. Eldorado is neat, but the Imperial Trading Post is also in mind. (EDIT: TOO EXPENSIVE ON BRICKLINK). Dunno, I like the blue shirted soldiers. I tried out collecting Life On Mars, then Bionicle, but none of the things of my time appealed to me. So the immediate past is the only place to really look. Edited October 8, 2007 by sdpirate Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 8, 2007 Governor Posted October 8, 2007 Greetings SDpirate! If you're looking build a nice Soldier (blue coat) collection you're going the right way about it. But there's still two more set I'd recommend you get... Broadside's Brig and Lagoon Lockup. Lagoon Lockup seems to be a favourite so if you have limited finances maybe get that instead of Sabre Island. Quote

Lagoon Lockup seems to be a favourite so if you have limited finances maybe get that instead of Sabre Island. I like the idea, but I'm not neccesarily going blue coat. The fortress is a #1 priority, and I'm not sure how much I'd want to buy after that. True- Sabre Island is extremely expensive, running 60 dollars apiece from where I sometimes buy. I was thinking of having: Fort Eldorado Caribbean Clipper (pirate?) No matter how much I want to, I have insufficient funds for the larger ones, such as the Barricuda. But there are no notable evil ships other than these, from what I know. For Eldorado and Caribbean Clipper confirmed, I guess. I just like them. Just to spice things up. But of course, having those may not be such a bad idea as well. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 8, 2007 Governor Posted October 8, 2007 If you don't want to go completely Blue Coat then perhaps you could get a pirate set so your soliders have something to do. You probably can't afford anything huuude so how about Forbidden Island? Quote
Scouty Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 FI is a great little set. I would recommend it! Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) Forbidden Island's okay, but no offence, you don't get many pieces and it's really airy. In my opinion, of course. And would you look at what I found! http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Brick_Qc&itemID=8890862 If only I could get a babysitting job. The Eldorado Fortress, Lagoon Lockup, Caribbean Clipper, Black Seas Barracuda. Of course, I'll get some smaller sets to go with them over time. These are the four big ones. I was going to ask about the RR, but I thought it was out of the timeline. Guess again, I suppose. That against the clipper sounds like a cool fight. The outpost seems cool, but I haven't looked into it. And the sentry's neat. I'll post again once I come to a descision. P Edited October 8, 2007 by sdpirate Quote

I suggested it taking your budget into consideration. If you had more to spend then I recommend Rock Island Refuge. Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 I suggested it taking your budget into consideration. If you had more to spend then I recommend Rock Island Refuge. It's alright, TY for suggesting. Rock Island Refuge looks neat. Maybe I'll look into it... besides, I'm buying them over time. I just want to have them before my 15th B-day. So far: Eldorando Fortress Imperial Outpost Armada Sentry Caribbean Clipper Renegade Runner (fill in blank) Then, I'll just get a few little sets to accent and I'll be done. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 8, 2007 Governor Posted October 8, 2007 How much do you have to spend on Pirate LEGO anyway? Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 How much do you have to spend on Pirate LEGO anyway? There's no set amount, I just don't want to spend so much money. I may just buy 3 sets or so, or I may splurge. 3 is good because of size and stuff, but 6 is also cool. I want to get Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, and a few other games. These cost alot of money. 300$ at the most over a period of time, though I know it's unlikely I can stay within that limit. I may just get: Eldorado Fortress Caribbean Clipper Renegade Runner Quote
Scouty Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 You should lean into getting the Imperial Trading post instead of the RR. The ITP has pirates and red coats and a merchant ship, what more could you want X-D ? Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 You should lean into getting the Imperial Trading post instead of the RR. The ITP has pirates and red coats and a merchant ship, what more could you want X-D ? That would have been a great idea, and I tried. Nope, 300 apiece. Besides, Eldorado was my original idea (not that yours wasn't good or anything). It grows on ye. :-$ Quote
Scouty Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Well, keep your eye's out. You'll never know... ...whats peeking out of the corners... ...that is a insanely good priced ITP... ...I'm still looking for that X-D ! Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) Well, keep your eye's out. You'll never know......whats peeking out of the corners... ...that is a insanely good priced ITP... ...I'm still looking for that X-D ! It gets cheaper, but with sometimes unpromising quality. I can help you find some if you want, IS. To be honest, the suggestions sound wonderful. So far, I have an "alright" idea of what I should get: Eldorado Fortress Caribbean Clipper Lagoon Lock-up Renegade Runner (good pirate set, if possible not a base/big ship. Maybe a smaller base like the Lagoon Lockup is.) Then little stuff, like rafts, rowboats and stuff. Then I'll keep them as a "final gratitude". :P Of course, I'll still probably post on here, designing stuff on MLCAD. Edited October 9, 2007 by sdpirate Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 9, 2007 Governor Posted October 9, 2007 Yes, some MCLAD designs would be great! But really, you should focus on getting ALL the Pirate sets now. X-D Quote
Zzz Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I had these decisions quite a lot of times in my Lego-life. (and still....) And well, I can tell you that the first set that came into your mind should also be the most important to get. So I don't know, you could be into having an assortment but I have to concur with my piraty friends here: leave with a bang! If your dream was always to get the BSB, the EF or (heck) even the ITP.. Do it! :-$ I own the BSB and the EF and in my opinion all the later sets don't come close, except the ITP. We are talking about the 1st league of pirates here. So may the parrot be with you in making a wise decision! :-) Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 I don't know, I don't really want to go through the trouble. No offence. EF is the set I've wanted first. RIF is okay, as well as LL, IO, CC and RR, but that's the main one I want. http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Pazzo&itemID=8043947 Sounds like a good deal to me. I'd get it MISB, but it runs for 800$. |-/ Caribbean Clipper looks good too, maybe I'll consider. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 10, 2007 Governor Posted October 10, 2007 Good luck getting anything MISB - such sets are only going to get more expensive. Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 What is more popular- Blue Coat or Red Coat? I have looked at both (blue extensively) and I would rather do the one that- well, isn't collected by everyone else. I like the Blue Coat ship more, and the EF and ITP are extremely even. Quote
Scouty Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I suppose blue coat is more popular, as I see more of them in creations than red coats, plus, blue coat armies have certainly surpassed the number of red coat armies! Quote
