Vindicare Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I did a little digging & didn't see this so thought I'd start one. Ernest Cline- Ready Player One Armada Jay Posey- Legends of the Duskwalker Series: Three Morningside Dawnbreaker Quote
x105Black Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Good idea. Kurt Vonnegut - Welcome to the Monkey House (Lots of fantastic short stories.) George Orwell - Keep the Aspidistra Flying (Wonderful tale of poverty.) Chuck Palahniuk - Diary (A great tale about a gifted artist.) H.G. Wells - The Time Machine (A classic story about, well, a time machine.) These are my top 4 authors. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I'm currently re-reading and re-appreciating JRR Tolkien's the Hobbit (much better than the films ) Quote

Vindicare Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 I recommend all the Harry Potter books and 1984. Figured Harry Potter was a given. I bought 1984 a few months back, but it keeps getting bumped down on my reading list because of other books I keep buying... Quote
x105Black Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I recommend all the Harry Potter books and 1984. I haven't read the Potter books, but I keep getting them recommended to me. 1984 is a fantastic book. It's a little dry in the middle, but it is easily one of my favorites. Quote

To me it doesnt get more Sci-Fi and im a whovian remember ! Sounds like a cool series, right up my alley! But man! that is some serious gaps between books-1989, 1993, 2015- definitely going to check these out. Another great alien invasion read is The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. The second book, The Infinite Sea, & The Last Star comes out in May of next year. There's also Pierce Brown Red Rising Golden Son Morning Star James Dashner Eye of Minds The Rule of Thought The Game of Lives Quote
KlodsBrik Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) Sounds like a cool series, right up my alley! Ive only seen the 5wave tv-series, it actually started of really good, then got caught up on budget i guess. Gonna read the book for sure. Yeah, its a serious gap in War against the Cthoor. You will be surprised how capable the author was predicting our days technology, however its the invasion, the invaders and the main character that makes it so freaking awesome. For so long ive been wanting to make a diorama for this series, but its freaking hard. Well, not gonna do any spoilers. Im just gonna leave it at that Edited November 1, 2015 by KlodsBrik Quote

I bought 1984 a few months back, but it keeps getting bumped down on my reading list because of other books I keep buying... That's what happened to my Hobbit Book! I managed to finally remember about it a couple of months later.. I haven't read the Potter books, but I keep getting them recommended to me. 1984 is a fantastic book. It's a little dry in the middle, but it is easily one of my favorites. I would recommend reading the books before you watch the films, the films are great but sometimes they miss out keys bits of information which the books help explain. Quote
Vindicare Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 Currently reading Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. It's such a great laid out story, it really has to be seen to appreciate Kate it fully. It's not told in the traditional sense of words on pages in chapters. Its told through reports, interviews, surveillance reviews, IM's, & emails. It is a fantastically told story & a refreshing change of pace. Quote
Junior Shark Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) If you haven't read it yet, Andy Weir's The Martian. Waaay better that the movie (and the movie was pretty good, so you figure it out). Isaac Asimov's Foundation trilogy. Try and find a copy with the three original books in one. For you Americans, John Muir's Our National Parks. Don't let the title scare you away, it's a rugged book by one of the most American Americans ever! Oooh, or anything Jon Krakauer! Specifically, Into Thin Air and Into The Wild. Edited November 24, 2015 by Junior Shark Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Daemon Hall and Return to Daemon Hall, if you're into more of a horror genre type of thing, really enjoyed the books! Quote
