Hello,

I'm a beginner on LDD.

It might be obvious but I can't figure out what is the issue.

When I click on the Paint Tool, I can't see the icons opening.

I have this :

463460painttool.png

But I'd expect to rather see something like this:

menu.png?w=634

I'm on LDD 4.3.8.

I tried the regular mode and the extended mode...

I face this when I select some pieces (select all pieces from the same color) and want to change their color.

Any idea?

Thanks for your help !

The paint tool works differently in “LDD” and “Extended” modes.

In the “Extended” mode, you have the secondary toolbar where you have: paint tool | color | pick | decorate

Click on “paint” and click on a part (yes, one by one) to apply the color shown in “color.”

Click on “color” to select a color from a palette.

Click on “pick” to select the color of a part in your model (the selected part then “pulses”).

Click on “decorate” and click on a part to have a dialog with the available decors for that part (nothing happens if the part can’t be decorated).

In the “LDD” mode, you click on a part and a dialog appears with the part in the available colors and decors for that part (the current color is not shown, the order of the colors changes with the current part (nearest colors first, I think)).

I have this is the issue, I don't have the secondary toolbar...!

My first screenshot above is taken from my extended mode.

I'm puzzled how you took the second screenshot, the secondary toolbar must have appeared at some stage. Are you really sure you're in extended mode? Does it say 'extended' under the 'Digital Designer' title at the top of the brock selection window?

I didn't take the second screenshot, I took it from google images. :classic:

Some progress: actually it seems that the issue comes with only one LXF file.

When I'm in extended mode, I can see the secondary toolbar for colors, as expected.

Then I open the file (the LXF for modular 10224) and LDD reverts automatically to the regular mode, don't know why. Maybe the file has been created in regular mode and I need to convert it ?

Yes, that seem to be an issue. When having your LXF open, go to View => New Themes => LDD Extended and it should switch you to an Extended mode. I think you need to save the file then in order for LDD to remember what mode you're using for this model. I hope that will help!

The .lxf saves the mode active when you save the file, and recall it when the file is opened.

So if LDD was in Standard Mode when the file was saved, then LDD will switch in standard mode when you will open the file.
