legotrainfan Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 (edited) Why were there two different types of black 12V wheels? I'm asking because I have a 12V set which is MISB. If I lift the front part of the box, I can see that the wheels have a red pin in the middle. However, I have a used 12V waggon and its wheels are entirely black with no red parts. paul_delahaye Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 In total there are 4 types, there is also all red wheels with red pin and the large red wheels used as used in 7750 Steam train. I remember seeing my High Speed Train, the red and black one, which was the first to have the red pin in my collection as a child. I doubt there was any special reason for the pin being red, they most likely had an overstock of the pin they wanted to use up. Quote
1974 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 The 7750 large wheels we're also made in black allthough never found their way into any set I've only seen red pins on late sets like the 7745. Maybe TLG ran out of black pins or had a load of red ones? Do look a bit naff with the red pin on the black wheels for sure Quote
JopieK Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 My 7823 rail waggon has red pins in black wheels. Quote
