hi all I have tried two time to get a dead micro motor back to life and so far I have been able to get them working but then I try do get rid of the magnetic powder and that kills the motor when I try to put power through it.

has anyone been able to successfully get them working again without having to take them apart again? if so can you tell me how you did it?

thanks

They're very difficult to work on, but I have fixed a few. Mostly just for the sport of it as the time it takes is definitely not worth it

As long as you never stall them WITHOUT the pulley or overvoltage them, the do not seem to go bad, despite what you can read online. I had more than a hundred go through my hands I haven't killed one yet

Funny, this also how I fix my computer, tv, food, car, gf, my life and the entire world

Stuck gears with these motors happen if you DON'T use the pulley (which has a build in clutch mechanisem), so if it's stuck do the "allanp", it might do the trick!

Do that before you open it up, because once you've opened it up, it'll take a proper ninja to put it back together :hmpf_bad:

Hmm, not sure what you mean by that!

They may "fit" into a technic hole, yes, but once you've got them braced up and cabled, they do take a bit more space. Proper motors works much better, imho

And oddly enough, I got 30 mms for sale at BL

So how about it "9v system", what is the actual state of your mm?

I've had them stop working after just being left in a model for a few months, when they were previously working fine. It seems like the gears get jammed, since if I hold them up to my ear and start them I can hear a very faint click. I've tried dropping/throwing/shaking them but it didn't work. At this point I don't bother trying to fix them and just use them as decoration. They make good minifig-scale generators on buildings.

What is the benefit of MM's anyways?

They're very small, and they're very light. And apparently they make good minifig-scale generators.

I've seen one used to very good effect making a dynamic brick-badge at a convention.

Owen.
