de Gothia Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) It was an early spring morning, the dew in the grass, all the lupines along the roads, bird song everywhere... and that scent, the scent of his beloved Benoic was once again in his nose. He was home. No more war, de Gothia thought to himself when they rode up to the Golden Crown Inn. He was a bit sad that they left Elijah in Barqa but Elijah really loved Sir Gideon and all of his adventures. At least Albion was with him home. Soon they should be in Sionnach. Just a quick breakfast... C&C as always most welcome! Edited September 26, 2015 by de Gothia Quote
Aaron Gomez Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Nice build! Angling the house makes it a lot more visually attractive! Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Very nice build, I always like how colorful and cheerful your MOCs are! The red roofs and the bright flowers give this a great atmosphere, and there are lots of other neat details as well; for instance, great use of those crates! Quote
ArchitectureFan Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Fine scene - it is still possible to build fine medieval houses using standard roof bricks. Quote
frumpy Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 for instance, great use of those crates! Absolutely agree. Wonderful idea and very effective way to add detail to the wall. Quote
MiloNelsiano Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Great build. I see so many Inspiring details that make me want to try. I think when I'm finished with my current story I'm going to try this style of house again. More of this stuff please! Quote
halixon Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Very nice! It's good to see that de Gothia is back in town! Quote
TitusV Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Oh waw. Just lovely. Nice to see a slope-roof, and zich a use of the crates. It's a pity Alric isn't home, otherwise he would have sended a bottle of wine and his happines at your safe homecoming Quote
mrcp6d Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 No complaints from me! Great work here de Gothia! Quote
Blufiji Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Another lovely build. You really have a strong mastery of Avalonian beauty. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Nice build, nice scene - more of that! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Nice build! Some great details here! Quote
Bregir Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Another beautiful addition to Benoic! While I wouldn't go as far as saying this is your best build ever (tough competition! :) ) there are many nice details here. As many others have mentioned, the use of crates is a great way to add texture, but the smoke, the minifigposing and expressions and the design of the stable are great too! The house itself is really proof that you are master of what I would call "classic" moc'ing. Without excessive greebling or super advanced techniques, you produce stunnning builds with a great atmosphere. My only critisism is that the first picture appears to be tilted somewhat sideways. Great to have the Lord Regent back on our own lands! Quote
LittleJohn Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Fantastic build, dG! The bright colors work perfectly here and I like how you inset the tudor sections Quote
Gunman Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Nice one DG! Any more pics? I like the look of the whole moc, it reminds me the official lego sets. Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 great use of those crates! Oh my ! What a good idea for having textured details in the wood ! Very impressive build, excellent job ! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Another lovely scene, I'm particularly fond of the building(s) layout The red roofs look superb, though I do think some stone edging on the main house like you did with the stables, would be better. The little tree, and different flowers are nice touches as well Quote
Garmadon Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Excellent build dG, fantastic work on the house and stable, and the bright colors and vegetation really make your builds stand out! As others have mentioned, the use of crates in the wall is superb, and it's good to see you getting back to Avalonia! Quote
Gideon Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 (edited) Excellent build with great atmosphere! I especially like the upper storey of the large house My only critisism is that the first picture appears to be tilted somewhat sideways. I agree, it looks like the place in the picture where a vertical line in the build is vertical in the picture is too far to the right. In my opinion, a shot like that generally looks better when the camera is positioned farther away from the build (and zoomed in), which makes the "leaning" effect of vertical lines farther to the sides of the build less pronounced. (Try using a focal length closer to 55 mm on your Canon 18-55 lens) When I'm on the topic of photography, I also think the second pic is a tad overexposed. Edited September 29, 2015 by Gideon Quote
