Corydoras Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) Well, not really childhood, I was around 15-16 back then. While searching for some papers I found these three photos. What they try to show is most likely the last MOC I built before my Dark Age - an imperial ship. I've never had any specialized hull pieces or original cloth sails, so I was forced to improvise. Also notice the brickbuilt anchor and a steering wheel made from... a wheel, what else? http://img11.deviant...kun-d97pqdr.jpg http://img15.deviant...kun-d97pqih.jpg http://img04.deviant...kun-d97pqm5.jpg The ship doesn't look THAT bad for a teenage attempt, despite the messy color scheme and the fact it's around 40-50% cheap clone bricks (never dreamed that in 10 years I'd finally have a decent sized collection). Not AFOL quality for sure, but still a nostalgic link back to my school days... Edited September 15, 2015 by Corydoras Quote
Jreacher Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Should have put this in the MOC section... but anyways, it looks pretty good despite the color scheme haha. I did the same thing when I was a kid, all kinds of bricks, but all different colors haha. Quote
Corydoras Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Didn't notice there was a MOC sub-forum. If it belongs there, a mod could move it. Quote
Capn Frank Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 If it belongs there, a mod could move it. Yes, I can! I was being lazy and waiting for a minion regulator to move the topic. Quote
Plaid Beard Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I like it. It's got heart. I remember way back when they first announced they were going to have Lego Pirates sets, my little brother and I started building piratey creations in anticipation of one day actually being able to get an actual pirate set, and we built some very odd looking things, but building those things back then with no access to any of the sources we have now was really satisfying, because we had to make do with what parts we had and really use our imaginations. So I like your ship quite a lot for that reason - it's honest and imaginative. Quote
Cousarmy0001 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Remember when we all built our ships out of whatever we had laying around? I tried that about a year ago, when I became frustrated with my family's financial doldrums. I decided I'd use what I already had to get a project completed. I wound up with a blue square made of 2x4 bricks stacked on the back of an old style hull. Not quite the way I remember things. This, on the other hand, actually looks like a ship :-D Quote
Staslegomaster Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I quite understand it was long ago but maybe you remember what LEGO sets you used to creat your ship? It seems to me, only the masts are of a real ship. As for the rest... your great imagination helped you even when you were a teenager. What can you creat now?!!! Quote
