Part 1 and Part 2 of my story Undying, Chapter 1 Reborn:

Normally when one dreams one does not realize it but when Kain slowly opened his eyes he knew this couldn't possibly be real, could it? He was standing on...

Beneath him was naught but water, calmly flowing. This strange ocean was filled with pillars, crumbling ancient looking monoliths of stone as far as the eye could see.

In front of him slowly a black mist formed into a shape, the shape of a person. "Welcome, weary traveller." The shadow spoke, a voice familiar yet unknown.

"What is this place, am I..." Kain suddenly realized he had no memories, no recollection. "You've met with a terrible fate haven't you." The shadowy figure smiled.

'Wait why am I thinking it smiled when I can't see.' Kain started to sense something was very wrong here. "I'll be seeing you again soon, friend." The shadow spoke.

Kain suddenly slipped into the water as if it changed from mass to liquid, his armor made him sink like a stone, he desperately tried to swim up but alas to no avail.

A suffocating darkness began to surround him as he slowly faded away.

"Wake up, why are you shaking? Are you ok? Wake up." As Kains eyes slowly opened he was greeted by a concerned face. "There you go, what's your name?" The young girl sitting next to him now smiled, she seemed relieved.

"..I'm.. ..Kain.." As Kain looked around he found himself in a tent in some kind of encampment, the place was bustling with nomadic looking folk. Some children were attending to mules, men were sitting around a fire and women were preparing food. The girl spoke again. "Well, not even last night's storm could wake you. We took the liberty of replacing your bandages and tended to your wounds, you were in pretty bad shape." That's right, Kain remembered now. The expedition to some ancient tomb, to offer assistance to the Paladins present there, his partner Raziel dying, that necromancer Abdul Alhazred whom captured him, the experiments Alhazred conducted upon him, and his haphazard escape.

"Thanks.. who are you, were am I?" The girl now looked a bit embarrassed. "Right, I haven't introduced myself yet, I'm Estelle Di'Lyna, of the Lyna clan. You're in our camp, we're travelling performers."

Suddenly two riders approached the camp, suited in plate mail and baring a fiery Red Dragon sigil. One of the men stood up from his place at the fire and greeted the riders. "Hail, ah lovely Mesuda, it's been too lo" The rider interrupted him, a stern womans voice resounded from under a bascinet. "Spare me the formalities Lucarius, just give me the notes." The man nodded. "Ofcourse, everything is in here, all we could gather on those mountain goats, forest toads and desert rats. I'm certain Lord Lockle-" Again she interrupted him. "Yes yes, here is your pay." She threw the man a bag, most likely filled with coin and before the man could make another remark the riders rode of as quickly as they had appeared.

Estelle whom, like everybody else, was distracted by the riders now returned her attention to Kain. "Sorry, do you have any other questions." Kain replied. "Yes actually I still don't really know were I am..." Although he began to get a pretty good impression of his location, he needed confirmation. "Oh Uhm well you're in the Badlands if that's what you mean." Kain looked displeased, Estelle asked "a long way from home?"

"Something like that, not that I really have any place to return to now." After what that necromancer did to him surely he couldn't return to his order. Estelle emphasised "I'm sorry to hear that, you're welcome to stay with us, for as long as you need."

You missed my Lovecraft reference then

Excellent builds! I especially like the second one; very nice landscaping and the cut firewood was a good touch

I like the foliage, I like the story, I like the figures! Great job!

Very nice one this is. Love the story and the gipsy tent. Also the way you portray the woman as a knight and such... very good. It all fits together!

I really enjoyed the first of the two scenes. I like the pillar technique.

Thanks everybody :classic:
