I read this the day you wrote it, but only looked up Anansi today - I don't get it. I'm not sexist, but if the mythological figure appears as a man, it seems "spooky girl" is an fairly odd twist.

Well the game stats read Anansi Girl... So they are stating right there that she is not Anansi exactly because she's female... Doesn't seem that odd to me, it fits with the character they made.

I wouldn't assume you were sexist for not liking it or whatever, but tbh it's only a character bio... In your Lego world she does not have to have any real like to mythology, she can just be an ordinary emo girl?

I think the game designers were wrong about Spooky Girl. More likely she represents a type of Japanesse ghost represented by her apparel and her ghostly white skin.

While Anansi is called Aunt Nancy in the Carribean, he is both a black man and a spider.

Neal Gaiman had some Anansi stories in American Gods and Anansi Boys.

Spooky Girl, could she Spider Lady's daughter?

To me she just looks like a friend I had in school... actually she is still a friend and still wears mostly black and white and likes things with skulls on...

The Spooky Girl is black-and-white because she's partially based on Wednesday Addams, a spooky little girl on the black-and-white television show, The Addams Family. Her design itself is meant to reflect a spooky Japanese schoolgirl. She's never stated to be a ghost or vampire, although she could be if you want her to. But Anansi has nothing to do with her. Someone didn't understand the mythological connection when labeling her as such.

I'd just want, say, equal parts Egyptian, Mesoamerican, Greek, and Norse.

You know in response to the topic name  even though I'm way deep into the topic.
