"Now that's an ugly beast. You all best stick to the smaller ones." Boris hefted his mace at the Veloceraptor Mob from the front row. "Mac, I could use some encouraging."

"Shh! Shh! Yeesh, these are the kinds of people Farmer Donauld prefers in his Fields? He really is a crazy old nut." The Sorcerer glances behind him. "All right, we need to be very, very quiet. We're almost to Timehenge, which is where these things seem to come from."

Jinnipher narrowed her eyes, annoyed that Sakurai had not answered her concerns. "Who's the crazy old nut?"

But there was no time to berate him more, and she drew her Brine Blade and prepared for battle. She stuck close to Terry before charging. "Great, looks like it's just you and me kid. And the old coot. You two should focus on those flying ones while I handle the big one."

With that, she charged at the Tyrannosaur from the front row.

"O man... There goes my chance to meet and kill a dragon... But these oversized lizards should do..." Torald Attacks Juvenile Coelophysis Mob A From the front Row.

"For the love of ENNOC!"

Terry hops backwards as the overgorwn lizards emerge, desperately fumbling through his equipment for his new staff and opal.

"Th-that thing's a kid, y-you say? How? It's gigantic... Well, h-hopefully it should be easy to deal with if it's not full grown yet...

And those flying buggers are pretty much useless. Can't do much of anything, 'speically if we hang out in the back row like we normally do. Let's take down that big one and clean up the rest afterwards.

Terry flings an ice spell at the Juvenile Tyrannosaur from the back row.

Battle Order:

Terry

Jinnipher

Sakurai (if he cooperates)

"Listen, Sakurai... Looking down that thing's gullet, well..."

Terry glances towards the tyrannosaur, looks at its many teeth, and elects to avert his eyes and slam them shut.

"I'm as afraid as you, Sato. But you got us into this. Part of your job is getting us out."

Terry squeezes his eyes open and looks at the other party.

"I just hope they're okay... They're all as green as the grass we're standin' on, 'cept Boris..."

QM Note: Tyrannosaur's health typo fixed. I've also added a little bit of relevant information to the note at the end of the party listing.

Round 1 of Terror at Timehenge (Northeast):

>Terry (Ice) vs. Juvenile Tyrannosaur - Spell (Juvenile Tyrannosaur: 10+7=17/2=8 damage; Terry: -1 Ether)

Jinnipher vs. Juvenile Tyrannosaur - SHIELD (Sentinel - Northeastern Party: protected from physical damage)

>Sakurai vs. Pterodactyl Hatchling C & Juvenile Tyrannosaur - Dual Damage (Sakurai: 3-3=0+9/2=4-3=1 damage)

Pterodactyl Hatchling A Free Hit vs. Terry: 3-1=2 damage

Pterodactyl Hatchling B Free Hit vs. Jinnipher: 3-9=0 damage

Terry, perhaps perplexed by the heat of the day, casts an Ice spell whose effects are sapped by the sunny weather. Jinnipher stands ready for a Sentinel, but not before Sakurai gets bitten and Terry pecked by the featherless fliers.

"Those winged creatures are faster than they look--they don't care what Row you're in, they'll still hurt. Have a habit of ganging up on you, too," he adds, unconsciously rubbing a spot on his lower back as he does so. "And g--Miss Elf," he continues, the respectful address clearly not something he used often, "I appreciate the sentinel stance, but it won't save us from that thing's jaws if it tries to devour us--it'll just swallow us whole."

Boris vs. Juvenile Velociraptor Mob - Special Damage (On the Hunt - Juvenile Velociraptor Mob: Hastened; Boris: Slowed)

Juvenile Velociraptor Mob Free Hit vs. Torald: 6 damage (KO!)

The battle opens disastrously for the Southwest party, with both Torald and Kheyli taking serious damage right out of the gate. Ezeran summons a burst of thorny roots and vines to push back the ferocious reptiles, but the Coelophysus slip right through the spaces between them. Boris steps in front of the injured Barbarians, but the raptors charge forward in haste, slicing Boris' leg to Slow him before pouncing on and mauling the defenseless Torald. Only Ezeran's quick vine whip saves Torald from death, the impact launching the raptors against a nearby tree; the Barbarian is still left unconscious, however.

Party Leader, choose the order of action.

All of you, choose your targets and the row you want to fight in. Also mention if you want to try to flee, heal or cast a magic spell, or if you want to use an item instead of attacking.

Any enemy not targeted will get a Free Hit on the party after everyone has acted; each party's Free Hits are separate. Mobs get an extra Free Hit if there are more members of the mob than standing party members.

NOTE: Any party member can switch to the other half of the battle by spending a turn, but you will only get experience once during this dual battle. If all party members on a front are Knocked Out, the remaining enemies will join the other front.

I believe ranged and fighting from the back row are two different things, no? One halves the damage taken by the enemy, the other allows them to defy row. Because you can definitely have a ranged enemy attack from the front.

Jinnipher holds up her shield and glares back at Terry. "You idiot! Your ice spells aren't going to do anything in this heat. If you had just done what I told you, you might have actually done some damage." She shook her head an refocused on the battle. "Amateur." She repeats.

The blend of frustration and fear in Terry causes him to lash out, especially over all of the previous bickering.

"Yeah, sure, should've used a wind spell and whatnot, but that wasn't even your advice, so... stuff it! I'm thinkin' maybe the reason you don't believe in relationships is just 'cause you're really bad at making them, lady.

...But fine, you can handle that thign with the giant jaws. Have, uh, fun."

Terry shoots a wind spell at Pterodactyl Hatchling A.

Terry glances to the other party, and sees Torald on the ground...

"Make sure they don't eat Torald while hes down - or any of you guys! We'll try to be there quick, soon as we take out our share of dinos..."

QM Note: After asking for clarification from Sandy, the tag *Fights from the Back Row* does indeed mean that the enemy is ranged and ignores Row. For future reference and clarity, if a non-ranged enemy retreats to the Back Row, I will note this with a *Retreated to Back Row* tag.

I will run the Round in roughly 12 hours or when K-Nut posts, whichever is later.

Mac pours the remedy over Boris' wound, wrapping it quickly with a spare cloth before binding the makeshift bandage with a strip of some strange silvery substance that's sticky on one side.

Quest2NPC2.jpg

"Good as new," he says with a smile.

Apparently, Mac's medic work works as advertised, as Boris is able to deal a tremendous blow to the velociraptor mob, crushing one's skull on the front swing while breaking another's neck on the backswing. While Ezeran successfully stabs a Coelophysus with his scorpion's stinger, Kheyli immediately follows up with a Frenzy, finishing said Coelophysus off and halving the last velociraptor's remaining health. The verminous reptiles retreat in fear from the seemingly-insane fairy swinging a rat around by its tail.

Quest2NPC2.jpg

"That...that was amazing. Well done, Kheyli!"

Should the Velociraptors be poisoned?

Kheyli sits back for a moment, the damage and adrenaline starting to get to her. "I- I'm fine... Just need a moment..." she repeats.

"Give me a second and I'll be right with you, got to work on getting Torald up as well. Mac, can you go help the other group?" Boris reached into his pouch and popped the Phoenix Essence open to use on Torald from the back row.

Should the Velociraptors be poisoned?

QM Note: No, your glorious QM never makes any mistakes ever. Yes, it's now fixed along with the accidentally copied Free Hit from last Round.

"And you're really bad at following directions. I figured you would use common sense and blow these birds away, but no, that's too much to expect from you, kid.

20695055443_9b13371190_t.jpg

""Hmf. You know, Miss, I think we got off on the wrong foot. It's way easier to do that with someone watching your back. Ever consider leaving Heroica for greener pastures?" He surveys the battlefield. "You know, if we defeat the ones that aren't Slowed, I doubt the others could follow us if we switched to the other battle."

"I have and I did before, gramps. Nothing pays quite like the name of Heroica. Well, nothing with the same freedom anyway." She nodded, and looked over at the other party. "Now you're starting to make sense. Let's take these other ones out. We can run circles around this wingless dragon."

Jinnipher attacks Pterodactyl Hatchling A from the front row with The Beheader.

"Right, then. Best of luck to the four of ya."

Round 3 of Terror at Timehenge (Northeast):

>Terry (Wind) vs. Pterodactyl Hatchling B - Special Damage (Aerial Pursuit - Pterodactyls: focused on Terry)

Jinnipher vs. Pterocactyl Hatchling A - Special Damage (Aerial Pursuit - Pterodactyls: focused on Jinnipher)

>Sakurai vs. Pterodactyl Hatchling B (twice) - Dual Hit (Pterodactyl Hatchling A: [7+10=17*2*2/2/2=17] + [7+10=17/2/2=4] = 21 damage)

Mac arrives on the Northeast front

Terry tries and fails to blow away his target, his awkward movements drawing their attention and focus. Seeing this, Jinnipher bangs her blade loudly against her shield, drawing their attention to her instead. Sakurai manages to catch one Pterodactyl as it flies towards Jinnipher, but it fails to have the desired effect.

20695055443_9b13371190_t.jpg

"Huh. All the Heroes I ever met were miserable with their life, felt kinda constrained. Well, 'all' being just an ogre named Zpilf, but still. Seemed stifling to me, from what he said. Maybe he was wrong." Sakurai takes another swing at the circling Pterodactyls, but misses. "Ahh, they're flying too high for me to hit properly." He looks to Jinnipher. "What do you think? Time for me to switch to spellcasting?"

Just then, Mac arrives on the Northeastern front.

>Ezeran vs. Juvenile Coelophysus Mob B - Critical Hit (Juvenile Coelophysus Mob B: -1 hit)

Mac quickly leaves the scene, leaving the four Heroes alone. Boris bends over Torald to administer the Phoenix Essence, leaving both backs vulnerable to the Velociraptor...until Torald's eyes pop open in a frenzied rage, as he spears the Velociraptor mid-leap, throwing its dead body into the Coelophysus and crushing one of them in the process. Kheyli and Ezeran take advantage of the confusion to kill another and wound a third, leaving just three of the creatures to contend with.
