Terry summons a massive ice crystal that hits the ground and bursts, shattering into several shards that slice through all of the illusions before hitting the ground and growing into a great ice wall. Ezeran follows up, his own magic bursting forth from the ground in a flurry of thorned vines that wrap over and reinforce the ice wall. "No! None shall escape my wrath!" The Mirage Knight takes a swing at Kheyli, who, due to her proximity to the real enemy, gets stabbed by its scythe. It hurts. A lot. As the ice and vines close in of their own accord, Boris rushes in, bashing their foe back behind the wall and pulling Kheyli to safety just in time. Sakurai throws the Smoke Bomb, and the Mirage Knight howls as his own mists are thwarted by the hazy, polluted smoke, his physical form likewise penned in by the mages' wall. He swings his scythe, seeking to sever and shatter the elemental obstacle. "RUN!" THE BATTLE IS SUCCESSFULLY DISCONTINUED! ------------------------- After five minutes of frenzied flight, the scattered party eventually begins to find their bearings, reconvening not far from the site of their first battle. Mac leans against a tree, panting heavily. "All right. We shouldn't stay long, but I think now's as good a time as any to catch our breaths, regroup, and divide up this loot. ...five, six, seven--Where's Sakurai?" Indeed, as Mac stated, the Sorcerer was nowhere to be seen. "Hmm...must have bolted a different direction in all the chaos. I'm...sure he'll be fine. He's wily. More importantly, our own wonder wizards made it out. That was amazin' what you managed back there. Well done. You, too, Mr. Bruhalv. Beatin' him off at the last second--I don't think I could've managed that even when I was half my age. Hel, Torald and Kheyli were pretty impressive against the little lizards, too. You lot are somethin' special, that's for sure. I wish I had somethin' more for ya, but for now I can only give you what's already yours." Mac spreads out the loot from the party's previous battle. "All right, now let's get back to Kiri before--" The party turns to head back the way they came, only to see their path blocked by four beings, seemingly some kind of spirits made of pure elemental power. "Auster spoke truth. The defiling mortals truly thought themselves quick enough to escape." "Indeed, brother Indrito. They show great arrogance to believe they may escape the spirits' wrath." "It matters not how they have earned it, sister Arayanita, we shall execute our wrath regardless." "Have a care, brother Agnito. Their punishment is inexorable, but perhaps they shall exhibit remorse before their demise. Even brother Indrito is not so hasty as to refuse Regret's due." "Indeed not, revered Varunata. But neither shall I wait forever. When I strike, it shall be swift and true, and shall be their end." Varunata gazes impassively down upon the assembled Heroes. "Speak swiftly, sinners. Your judgement awaits." What shall the party say or do? Edited September 28, 2015 by Flipz Quote

Endgame Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I discreetly equip my Murine cloak, sweating - and not just because of the raw fire elemental standing before us. JimBee Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Jinnipher tries her best to sound diplomatic towards the elementals, hiding her disbelief that they really weren't just common thieves in disguise. Flipz Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) QM Note: As it currently stands, my real life is getting in the way of hosting. I apologize for the inconvenience and frequent delays, and to make it up to you I've decided to make all loot from this battle guaranteed, rather than rolled randomly. I will also be seeking out a substitute QM to roll the Rounds of this battle for you, so I can throw what time I have available into the story updates. Again, I am deeply sorry that my RL problems are affecting you guys. Also, double-check everything and let me know if I've screwed up anything stats-wise; I'm typing this up at about 2:00 am my time after a very long few days, so odds are I've screwed at least something up. Boris nonchalantly passes behind Kheyli, healing her at the cost of 1 ether. Kheyli stays silent in the back, quickly taking a potion. Kheyli goes to drink a Potion, but finds that Boris has gotten there first, healing her to full health. "You would pass judgement on those who were given no forewarning of the committing of a crime? They truly do not understand their trespasses, do they? Perhaps the merchant and the barbarians carry an inkling of regret, but it seems we have not denied the Master a true offering." "I find their arrogange appalling. How dare they think that the claims of their kind bear any real meaning? The spirits own all, life and land, and any place we deem worthy to tread is sacred in its own way. It is arrogance to assume that those lands untainted by your touch belong to no one, and are open for your kind to tread upon and destroy as you please." "Attribute not to malice what may be explained by ignorance. I believe they speak the truth when they say they did not know their crimes. They do not even recognize the trespasses of slaughter they visited upon the lands in which they have tread. It is truly sad that their souls of their species have grown silent to the symphony of the spirits. I shall show you my mercy, in that when we have freed your souls from the prison of mortal flesh, I will claim them unto me, to serve the symphony as my spiritual servants." Arayanita gestures grandly, causing the weather in the forest to grow Lush and verdant. Varunata shakes his head amusedly. "You are generous, sister. But I believe them to be beyond recovery. Still, I, too, shall grant them mercy: under my power, they shall never know the pain of death." The spirit turns his head to address the party. "When you die, you shall not know, and instead shall believe yourself locked in this moment of battle for all eternity, fulfilling the fate you have chosen for yourselves." The spirit looks expectantly at its brethren, awaiting their answers. Indrito is the first of the remaining two to respond. "Ha Very well, Revered One. Though I share not your opinion, I shall share your judgment. My mercy shall be this: their end shall be swift, swifter than the sting of death shall strike; no pain shall they feel as their life flashes away." "They'll get no sympathy from me. There shall be nothing left once my vengeance has burned through them." Varunata nods. "Very well. It shall be a contest of whose influence is in play when the mortals expire. May you exert your will well, brethren; our sister has already claimed an early lead." It seems the party has no choice but to... PREPARE FOR BATTLE! Endgame Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Terry should have 2 defense. "And what gives you the right? Spirits just inherently better than us flesh and bone folks, huh? Torald, up to you, but these guys will knock you out cold if you attack from the front. Ezeran... This battle is gonna stink worse than an unwashed hog in a crowded barn, 'cause these ethereal types will nullify any element they ain't weak to. Your wood spells won't hurt 'em. Gotta attack physically. However, much as it pains me to do it, since Arayanita is the only one with a level head on, my ice should affect her just fine.. Y'all physical attackin' folk? Go nuts on 'em. That means you, Kheyli, Torald, and Jinnipher , but I don't think I need to tell you twice... Boris, whether its suckin' blood or healin' or bashin' skulls, just do what's best." Terry casts an ice spell on Arayanita from the back row. Mac inspires Ezeran. Mac Terry Jinnipher Ezeran Boris Torald Kheyli Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 "Eh, if they're spirits, not much blood to take." Boris smiled, "I'm still learning, but wouldn't Ezeran's spell work in this Lush environment?" Quote
