JimBee Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 "G-guys... Those you without elemental attacks, beat on the main body to lower that defense. I'll work on freeing Mac and Kiri." Terry said, trying to avoid the fat he was simply afraid of facing the beast head on. "Look kiddo, if you don't want the battle to go like last time, the only one who should be attacking that walking pile of bones is me. Let me go first and take its hit." Quote

Let me go first and take its hit." "You've already got the main beast covered, and the other spurs are slowed, and the main beastie can only hurt those its attackin'. It won't do anything. U-unless you're telling me I should stand down. Appreciate the offer, but, uh, no, that'd look pretty bad..." Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Boris shakes his head at the resurrected dinosaur, "Dry bones to life, just like Zeeliek, never learn do they." The cleric moves in on Bone Spur C from the front row. Quote
MysticModulus Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Ezeran sighs "Some people seems to have real popr judgement, I knew she meant trouble..." Ezeran casts a wooden spell at Spur B from the back row. Quote
Alfadas Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 "Damn! Well I guess we have no choice but to take this monster down, or leave here poor. Not that I mind a good fight." Jinnipher drew The Beheader, but realized that the vorpal blade wouldn't do much to the undead enemy. "Hey you, Torald. Considering how easily those spirits took you down last time, I think I'd better handle the big guy this time. Let me borrow that Ignis Blade and I can take him down quickly." "Sure, Here you go." Torald hands Jinnipher the Ignis Blade. Quote
K-Nut Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 "In all my years, I've never seen that..." Kheyli uses the Gelum Blade on Bone Spur A from the Front Row Quote
Flipz Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) QM Note: Just like Sakurai, Kiri uses Marauder rolls for physical attacks and Necromancer rolls for spells and revivals. Also, to answer Torald's question from last battle: melee fighters can indeed fight from the Back Row, it just halves their attack damage. Round 1 of the Bone Tale Boss Battle! >Jinnipher receives Ignis Blade >Terry (Wind) vs. Bone Spur A - Great Spell (Bone Spur A: 10*2=20+8=28 damage; Terry: -1 Ether) >Torald lends Ignis Blade to Jinnipher Kheyli vs. Bone Spur A - SHIELD (Frenzy - Bone Spurs: 5+4=9 damage (Spur A destroyed! Kiri freed!); Undead Tyrannosaur: 5+4=9*2=18 damage) >Ezeran (Wood) vs. Bone Spur B - Great Spell (Bone Spur B: 7*2=14+3=17 damage; Ezeran: -1 Ether) Boris vs. Bone Spur C - Hit (Bone Spur C: no effect, undead) >Kiri uses Smelling Salts >Kiri arc-casts Scroll of Lichen Shielding - Success! (Terry, Boris, Ezeran, Kiri: Lichen Shielding for 3 Rounds; Kiri: -20 Ether) Undead Tyrannosaur Free Hit vs. Jinnipher: 16/2/2=4-9=0 damage Terry tries his hardest to free the party's employer, and nearly succeeds, but it is Kheyli's Frenzied attack that finally shatters her bone spur. Ezeran neatly halves the health of the second spur, while Boris, perhaps forgetting the nature of undead enemies given his own vulnerability, fails to attack with the requisite Ether-based might. Recovering quickly, Kiri sniffs some Smelling Salts and successfully shields the party's spellcasters. "If you can get my weapons loose, I've got a shot to Weaken and Confuse this thing. Should let us all pile right on, no problem." "Poison!" Mac manages to shout before having to dodge yet again. "...that's right, poison'll rip right through those bones. Guess I'll have to rethink that Fields strategy... You can still apply negative effects to your enemies, even if the attack itself deals no damage. I've learned that the hard way--this kind of undead is powerful, but not exactly the sturdiest summon around." The Enemies: Undead Tyrannosaur *Immune to Bleeding and Sudden Death* Type: Undead/Beast Level: 16 Defense: 32 Health: 142/160 Special: Hunger of Death – Devours the target, removing them from the battle. Meanwhile, all business, Kheyli completes a crushing blow upon a Bone Spur, blasting it to bits and freeing the equipment snagged on it. Kiri takes a moment to reclaim her weapons. "Lady, you're a lifesaver," she says, hefting the dual staves. "Kheyli, was it? If you've got any suggestions, I'm happy to hear 'em. Otherwise, I'm going to use an Ether Core and try to attack this thing, try to Weaken and Confuse it." Boris sends forth a stream of healing power, the net effect of which weakens Mac's bone spur enough to break free of the Tyrannosaur from which it sprang. At first, it appears that the spur will spear the Cleric, but in the final moment a tiny aura appears in front of him, deflecting the blow. As the bone crumbles, Mac stands up and dusts himself off. Kheyli makes up for both with a resounding Extra Critical Hit that even shakes Jinnipher, while Ezeran summons a similarly powerful spell...that fails to penetrate the Tyrannosaur's defenses, only injuring Jinnipher. Boris' healing, however, weakens the creature greatly, and even manages to patch up some of Jinnipher's wounds. Finally, it is Kiri's turn. She dances in close to try and get in a Weakening hit... "...oh, Hel." ...before she is devoured. Her presence forces Jinnipher free of the Tyrannosaur's entrapment, but too late to attack, as she had been passed up already in the Battle Order. Mac, somewhat at a loss for what to suggest, administers a Tonic to Boris, bolstering Bruhalv's Ether reserves. The Enemies: Undead Tyrannosaur *Immune to Bleeding and Sudden Death* *Poisoned-by-3* Type: Undead/Beast Level: 16 Defense: 28 Health: 91/160 Special: Hunger of Death – Devours the target, removing them from the battle. The devoured target is returned after the end of the next Round or when a new target is devoured; while devoured, the target takes 10% of all damage dealt to the Undead Tyrannosaur. Drops: Ancient Bone Fragments Note: Fragile Bones - The Undead Tyrannosaur loses 4 Defense for each non-elemental strike dealt. This number can go negative, adding damage to all damaging attacks dealt against the Undead Tyrannosaur.
