Endgame Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 "Ooof! - Uh, thanks. You're... Not so bad, Jinnipher. You're gonna punch me in the face now that I said that to restore the balance and whatnot, aren't you." Quote
JimBee Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Jinnipher's slight grin faded. She shrugged with her eyes closed, trying to appear nonchalant. "What balance? As far as I'm concerned you're a wimp and always will be, no matter how many times you get up. Where's the fun if I don't get to see that?" Quote

With Mac helping carry the awkwardly large bones, the Heroes resume their journey. After a fair amount of walking, the Heroes eventually emerge from the forest, bathed in the rays of the setting sun, as Sakurai approaches the Heroes' employer. "You have my bones?" "You have our pay?" Kiri pauses. "...Well. This is new. I thought I was the 'grumpy' one. Your words, not mine." "Look. Kiri. We all have had a long, dangerous day, and I think I speak for everyone when I say we're looking forward to going home for some well-earned rest and relaxation. So if ya don't mind?" Kiri sighs. "Fine, fine." She reaches for the bones, but Mac snatches them away before she can take them. "Sorry, Kiri, but we've been stiffed once already today. These Heroes have gone above and beyond the call of duty, so I'll be damned if I let it happen to them again. Half up front, if you please." Kiri rolls her eyes, but produces a purse--purple, unsurprisingly--and pulls two sacks from it. "The Gold or the hats--take your pick. You'll get the other half once the bones are in my possession." She glances into the bag, then back up at the Heroes. "Hmm...I'd originally planned for only five of you...here, take these," she says, removing her own gloves and adding them to the loot sack. "Best I can do on short notice. How much Gold do I owe you, anyway?" Will each Hero choose loot or Gold? And how many Ancient Bones will each surrender to Kiri? JimBee Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 OOC: I don't quite understand... Are we supposed to trade all of our bones for one piece of loot? Or is there more loot/gold as determined by the amount of bones we surrender after choosing the loot now? Can I turn in one bone now and get a hat and then turn in three for 150 gold after? Jinnipher looks over the loot. "Hmm, maybe those gloves could be sold for a pretty penny..." Quote

Jinnipher looks over the loot. "Hmm, maybe those gloves could be sold for a pretty penny..." QM Note: You'll get both gold and loot in the end; the number of bones traded in mainly affects how much gold you'll get (since the Quest reward is 50 gold per Ancient Bone). You do need to turn in all the bones you wish to turn in at once, however. Quote

Flipz Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) Mac relaxes a bit, leaning against a nearby tree while he waits for the Heroes' decisions. Acting upon the Heroes' requests, Kiri passes out the requested half of the loot to each Hero. Current Distribution (first half): (correct me if I'm wrong) Terry: Tricorne Jinnipher: Gloves of the Aspirant Zieg-friend Boris: 200 gold Ezeran: 50 gold Torald: Tricorne Kheyli: Cultist Cap "Fine. I'll take those gloves now. Here are four bones for 200 gold. I was just telling Terry here how much I hate backstabbers and double-crossers, so think twice before pulling a fast one on us, sweetheart." "Same here, sweetheart," she says sardonically. "The bones, then?" Kiri grabs the bones, but soon finds that sixteen bones nearly twice as big as she is are too much to handle while handing out loot. "Sheesh, how in Hel did you manage to carry...? Eh, never mind, doesn't matter. Lemme set these down real quick." Kiri walks over to the bush she had summoned, sets the bones down, then stops. "You know, I think Mac was right. These are far more bones than I was expecting you to bring back. You deserve a little extra something. Especially you, Mr. Bruhalv," she adds with a wink. "I was going to wait until after you were gone to do this, but...well, I think you'll enjoy the show." Kiri raises her staves and begins chanting in a language unknown to most of them, although Ezeran hears more than a few familiar words in the cant. The bone-white apples upon the bush begin to glow orange, as do the ancient bones atop the impromptu altar. "Yes...yes...these will do more than nicely. With this minion, I shall enter the Fields by force! The Mirage Knight will be no match for me this time! The matchless Mirage Scythe shall be mine!" "Ah...Kiri?" Mac asks nervously, his eyes flicking to the levitating bones with more than a little concern. "Yeah, yeah, the Heroes. They've made a fine friend this day, and I won't forget their help." Kiri picks up the reward bags again. "But let it be known that I pay my debts. As promised, the rest of your rewa--" Kiri is knocked back by a burst of light and power, as an enormous skeletal Tyrannosaur emerges from the assembled bones. The reward bag arcs high into the air, catching on one of the creature's numerous bone spurs. The creature's beady glowing eyes stare around, affixing themselves onto the Heroes. "AROOOOOOOOOOOOO!" "Well...that ain't good." Unfortunately for Mac... "Oh, Hel..." "AROOOOOOOOOOOOO! AROOOOOOOOOOOOO!" The skeleton stomps towards Mac, another set of bone spurs snagging the semi-conscious Kiri as it does. "Ugh...hey, what the--? Let go of me! Let GO!" Unfortunately, the creature does not appear to be responding to her commands. "Any chance of some help here, Heroes?!?" With their employer, their ally, and their loot all literally hanging in the balance, the party has little choice but to... PREPARE FOR THE FINAL BATTLE!
