My first attempt at custom minifigs can be seen here.

My goal is to have all original characters for my castle story The Book of the Ancients. When that story will finally be released...is anybody's guess *wacko*

Anyway here are my new figs, using white decal paper this time. I've had trouble matching the colors and need to iron out the kinks someday when I have the time to tweek color chart after color chart...

070918.jpg

They are all very chesty, I'm aware of this. I'm working on de-chesting my male characters. :-$ My original thought was that they are all in swamplands in the first chapter and wear loose robes, but it's starting to look like one of those movies that comes on late at night on Cinemax...

shon.jpg

This would be the hero of the story, Shon. I wanted him in a tan vest, but I can't get my printer to match my color process manual for that spectrum, so I am skipping the tan torsos, for now (Shon is in dark tan)...I'd hate to have to buy a new printer just for that... :-/

vancent.jpg

Light blue turned out all right. This is Vancent...

benu.jpg

This is the first time I realized that LEGO torsos don't line up with the hips perfectly... :-/ Green is the most problematic right now. I really have to work with matching this. You can see in this pic where the edge of the decal tore a little. I have a different brand of decal paper I want to try that may avoid this problem altogether...

zander.jpg

This turned out the best I think...

zella.jpg

Red was super weird and I decided to add flesh to this character even though her torso uses yellow, but I like the complimentary green to the red dress...

Along with these torsos and the ones from the first thread-

family_photo.jpg

I am considering mass producing these and selling them from my website. Would anyone be interested in that? If so, which ones are your favorites?

Please feel free to leave feedback, I would greatly appreciate it, especially if you have decal experience and have suggestions! Thanks :-$

They're all very, very good, and from my computer(It's darker so don't trust my saying[now] too much), looks like it was applied very well.

However, after the first picture, all I see is IBP Image, IBP Image, IBP Image, IBP Image, IBP Image, IBP Image, IBP Image.

Of course, you're fixing that right now!

I wouldn't sell these if you're going to put them in a story, maybe more city generic peoples would be cool....hmmmm

Edit: I like forest woman best(green one)!

I think the red woman is the best, the hair works well. (though that's not the custom, though, is it?)

There's a college geek somewhere missing her wig, Hink. >:-(

:-P

You're right, they are a bit chesty. Keeping it to one would be fine, probably mustache man's torso.

All in all, I think I liked your first attempt better, I think the colors on the prints fit better. *y*

I'd buy 'em! X-D

These turned out great! If you're having so much trouble matching torso color though, why not just try printing on clear waterslides? That way you only need to worry about the details.

As for selling them, not a bad idea! Would you be selling them ON the figs though, or just the decals? As for what I like best, I love that arm with the green tat, as well as the chest with the red tat

Thank you!

Colors aren't opaque on clear waterslide decals. I couldn't put, for example, yellow on black, or any dark color for that matter. Once I sit down and figure out the exact CMYK of each LEGO piece the way my printer reads it, I'll be unstoppable...I think 8-|

Are we cross-posting here? I think so... :-D

I also like the tattoos best. I would sell the torsos already decaled. That way I don't have to deal with e-mail after e-mail about how to apply them and seal them and "The decal didn't work right, I want another one..." :-| Stupid jerks ruin everything. >:-(

:-D Seriously, I think the designed torso would be much easier. I think I would do it through BL so as not to have to deal with crazy eBay fees or setting up my own shopping cart. I could do it through paypal but I think anyone who wanted to buy custom torsos would be (or could easily become) familiar with BL...

Peeron has a CMYK chart for LEGO colours, though I don't know how helpful it would be with your specific printer.

As for your latest efforts, I loves me the wimmens. Ok, so I figure we've got so many male figures as it is that I tend to focus on the women, but hey, they're great (except the noted green that looks like turquoise). I love the patterns and they appear well applied.

It was a hot August afternoon, the kind that makes the sweat boil on the back of your neck. This tuesday was much like every other tuesday in recent memory, the smell of cabbage drifting up from Mulhaney's Pub downstairs, the sounds of the city wafted in on the little breeze that managed to muster it's way through the window slats, the complete lack of business that marked our decent into bankruptcy. It isn't easy being a detective in a town with no secrets.

And then, she walked in.

It was a woman, a doll, a dame and a half, a sensational tomato who looked as if she

Thanks is! :-$

I have Peeron's chart and another one from a custom torso maker her on EB, but neither one matches when printed on my printer...like you said. So I took the advice of Bonaparte and need to just sit down and make my own chart... :-$

Is the white paper easier to work with, cheaper, more readily available, or is there some other advantage? I really can't tell the difference, I know that much, so you've managed to do a good job with both types.

If you're too worried about matching up the red skirt/slope and torso, just dig through your recent purchases. With LEGO colour consistancy lately, you've probably got one that exact shade (and I really like that figure *wub* ... I'd buy that one myself, assuming this isn't an expensive project).

:-D :-D good point...

The white paper decal paper allows you to put lighter colors on a darker background. The clear decal paper works best on the yellow and white torsos...I should try it on tan, since I'm having so much trouble printing on tan... :-/ hmmm

Shon - I like him, but I warn you; I look at him and think "Frodo"! *wacko*

Vancent - I like the custom, but choice of head/hair to go with the chest I don't. But as you say you are de-chesting some of them.

Forest woman - I like the decal, but like Asuka I am not sure of the combination.

Moustache Man - Perfect! *wub* Something about moustaches and bare chests seem to work for me! :-D I think he is the best of the new batch.

Woman in Red - Perfect also! *sweet*

What ones are custom heads? Was Cutlass Iz a custom? I'd buy her.... 8-| For a reasonalble price I'd buy a woman, and possibly Moustache Man. :-D

Thanks buddy! :-$ The only custom face right now is Fernos (bare chest and tattoos) I actually want all the faces to be custom as well. My favorite thing to customize is the faces, but that had brought me to a huge project that I've been developing for a while and will be for quite some time...I have some custom faces in issue 2 & 3 of Whacker/Walrus (should be up soon)

Anyway-cutlass is a custom torso that I printed on a mailing label...I didn't have decals yet. I don't know about selling those because they are LEGO's design in different colors...Which reminds me! I did a bunch of LEGO torsos in different colors that I forgot to photograph...The bare chest template I'm using is from Classic-Castle too, so I will create my own before I start selling them...

Damn it! Good point... :-/ Thanks :-$

Yes, Collette needs her hair back for the next issue anyway...Here is my original concept of Vancent though...

Forest woman - I like the decal, but like Asuka I am not sure of the combination.

She's supposed to be a badass. She's a member of the Dal Tescus Guard, gentle but could defeat a swamp monster...That torso is misguided for her. She has to wear pants, but I'm stumped on the right torso. I will move that torso design to another character...

Moustache Man - Perfect! *wub* Something about moustaches and bare chests seem to work for me! :-D I think he is the best of the new batch.

Perfect??!! :-$ Gee, thanks! I like Zander and Lao the best so far. Zander will get a custom head, but I'll keep the mustache just for you since you love them so much. :-P

Wow thats some nice customs you have there, if it's a colour chart your looking for then have a look at this one:

http://www.minifigcustomizationnetwork.com/colorguide

It was done by Redbean and it's the one i always tend to use.

Thanks Vader! I will check that out. I believe I have it, but I have been working off another. My printer is a re-furbished work horse I bought from a non-profit that was closing (it was only created for an event in Chicago) so it does weird things. It's a hybrid...

You have some crazy custom capabilities, don't you?

:-X <--That's me jealous. I know it's a green face and not green eyes but it's the closest thing I've got. Do you have all of you custom torsos on display anywhere online? I've looked in you BS folder and don't remember seeing them... :-$

I'm afraid not, i started to place them on BS but then i found alot of kids were stealing them and claiming them as there own.

I have so many now that it would take forever to post them, however if there's any designs (on figs) you see in my bs account that you like the look of, i can always post the design for you.

I think the first batch of decal turned out much better, but these are still very nice. I like the guy with the mustache the most.

I'm not sure if I would buy these... it depends on the pricing. If I did, it would be the two with the tattoos. Those are my favorite. *wub*

and shameless self-promotion! X-D

Thanks Dr. S :-$

I prefer that one...

Vancent has to replace Pell as Pell is now clearly Hinckley the Whacker...I will make a custom head and torso for Pell, though, using the Vancent fig as inspiration.

Never saw that coming or I would've picked a different sig-fig! :-D
