PiratesLegoFan Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Hi, Does someone have a bigger version of this Pirates logo? Quote
pietje Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 (edited) Here's a bigger one (Of een grotere in onze taal(veel nederlanders hier *y* )) Edited September 17, 2007 by phred Quote
PiratesLegoFan Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 (edited) Thanks Pietje! This one is workable for me, but if somebody has one with higher resolution please post :)? Leuk dat er veel Nederlanders zijn :) Edited September 17, 2007 by phred Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 18, 2007 Governor Posted September 18, 2007 Exactly how much higher do you need the resolution to be? Quote
PiratesLegoFan Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Exactly how much higher do you need the resolution to be? I don't know exactly how much higher, but more sharper. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 29, 2007 Governor Posted September 29, 2007 That's probably not going to be feasible unless a larger version of the logo exists somewhere. Scanning a small image at a higher DPI will indeed increase its size however its quality will also diminish as the half toning will become more apparent. What are you using this logo for Mr PiratesLegoFan? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted October 2, 2007 Governor Posted October 2, 2007 That looks quite good! How do you plan to improve it? Quote
PiratesLegoFan Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 That looks quite good! How do you plan to improve it? Well around the lego figures there is a blue line. It's difficult to see it at this size, but in a bigger version you can see it. So I want to erase that and then maybe add some nice background to it. And after that I want to use it as part of a Lego Pirates poster. But that is not even close to finished hehe :). It will take a while. But that's what I like to do now with Lego Pirates. To build a scene, take a picture and make something nice on the computer with it. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 2, 2007 Governor Posted October 2, 2007 You're off to a good start! Which program(s) do you use? Quote
PiratesLegoFan Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 I use Fireworks. I find it difficult to erase background. For some reason there is always an 'aura' around a mini figs :) Quote
TalonCard Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Hey, that's great! Make sure you keep us posted with whatever you're working on. TC Quote

PiratesLegoFan Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 Thanks for the advise! I never really played with the feather. It's standard on 10. I will try to change it where it works for the best. Thanks! You use also Fireworks? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 4, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 4, 2007 Hey, that's great! Make sure you keep us posted with whatever you're working on.TC Yes, this could be useful as illustration for one of the future pirate articles. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2007 Governor Posted October 4, 2007 You use also Fireworks? Yes, Fireworks is my preferred image editing software. It doesn't have as many features as Photoshop but its "Live Effects" capability more than makes up for it. Quote
Scouty Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Could you explain the "Live Effects" feature? :-) . Quote
Brick Miner Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 This is what I made: But i'm not entirely happy with it. So i'm trying to make it better. that image is really really nice !!! it captures the spirit of the "LEGO pirate world" very well.i'd like to keep updated to your work, PLF... definietly post it here on EB ;-) - BM Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 5, 2007 Governor Posted October 5, 2007 Could you explain the "Live Effects" feature? :-) . No. No I cannot... :-P Oh alright then... Live Effects are plugins or filters which can be applied to objects or bitmaps and can be edited or remove at any time. For example: I create the text "Pirate Forum" and then add a drop shadow. But I'm not happy with the drop shadow so I go back and change the settings. The shadow updates and I haven't had to undo or recreate anything. Similiarly, I add a word "Eurobricks Pirate Forum" and the shadow is automatically added to "Eurobricks". I then make the text bold and the shadow automatically adjusts to the new thickness of the text. I understand Photoshop has limited ability to do this. I.e. there are a range of effects you can add to a layer, but with Live Effects you can add most effects/plugins to any object and change them whenever you please without having to "undo" anything.
