Lankygit Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I have a question. I really enjoying building minifigure scale houses, however I always hit a bit of a brick wall (boom boom) when I get to the roof. I have tried with plates and tiles - looks good, but corners etc can be complicated. I also like the regular Roof Tile bricks that Creator houses are built with, they are certainly easier to get around corners and build more complex roof structures with. My question is: Is using the standard Roof Tile (Sloping Brick) considered a bit basic for a build of any detail? Interested in your opinions! Cheers Quote
ancestral Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Cheese slopes 1x2 Cutout Roof Slopes As they are tiny, you could figure something out with em in minifig scale creations. Also with plates you get curved corners and triangles so it could be given another try. If you want to get a more complex look with standard roof pieces, try using 2-3 different angles, will look good. Quote
SearchFunction Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Is using the standard Roof Tile (Sloping Brick) considered a bit basic for a build of any detail? Depends on the building I would say, and the style. I can say this though: Corners with plates is difficult but possible (not to plug myself, but click here for an example). This one of Henrik Hoexbroe is quite nice. This old thread is a good inspiration as well. You can get quite far with standard roof pieces. No shame in that : ). The creator houses looks quite good I think. I don´t see any regular houses on your flicker. If you got them, I would definately like to see them : ). Edited August 4, 2015 by SearchFunction Quote

SearchFunction Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) Beautifull house. The colors gives a very calm look and the chimney adds character. That little baywindow? at the front really adds to the realism. Didn't even know it was possible to build in those colors. And that ..dormer?.. is great. I recently experimented with something like it. Dosn't look to me like you need any help with roofing at all . I'm glad you found my series usefull. And about rebuilding stuff - I do the same only digitally. Edited August 5, 2015 by SearchFunction Quote
