adotnamedstud Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Doctor Strange vs Baron Mordo If you happen to follow in any particular order of when I post my topics. You realize I sort-of mention this MOC/set in there. Well, I can say this had a much different process than the other. Small sets are always what I can relate to and have a blast with building. They're just the cheapest sets with great figs and a decent build guaranteed! My collection is made up of an overwhelming number of $12 sets, so no dissing them here. One day, I said. "It'd be really cool to be a LEGO set designer." So, I decided to take action. Although the job may seem far-fetched now. Who knows? With all this practice I could possibly be good! As I said earlier though, this process of making this was a lot different. I've been studying LEGO sets for a few days now, so I guess you could call me an expert. (Kidding, please don't.) Anyways, I decided the best place to put my sets were on Brickimedia. With that pre-determined. I had my studies in my mind! The first thing I thought of for $12 sets are functions. There's always one function in these sets that is a seller. LEGO sets, especially licensed sets have to have something. And since I decided to make a Doctor Strange set, it has to be something that'd happen from magic. So, the good old, turn the handle and the plate flies off technique! The set was fairly simple to make once I got the function working. My main problem with it is the brown curved slopes. I wanted some detail alongside the rather blank wall that explodes. Something... Strange. It could've gone better. But this was my first try. Another fun thing, I had just gotten an Ant-Man set. Let's be realistic, this probably won't show up in this small of a set too often. (Although it has.) I decided to add in a Super Jumper. I feel like these add ons with the functions and Super Jumper are really what can divide this from a MOC into perhaps a set. Though I've seen some pretty cool MOCs with functions. Anyways, just as I have done with my Killer Croc set, I want to hear some opinions! Here's the link: http://customs.brick..._vs_Baron_Mordo Any other comments, opinions, criticisms, or suggestions would be well appreciated. I'm always looking for room to improve! Amazing Bricks Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Nice MOC, I hope we see an actual Lego set like this in the future. This would be a perfect size for a doctor strange movie set. Overall I like what you did with Doctor strange and the structure of the build. Quote
kevkipo Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Add another character, like Dormammu. the Eye and some cool relics and this is the Doc Strange set i'll be buying next year Quote
LegoPercyJ Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 This is spectacular! Great figures, build.. this would be a perfect Lego set! Quote
adotnamedstud Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 Nice MOC, I hope we see an actual Lego set like this in the future. This would be a perfect size for a doctor strange movie set. Overall I like what you did with Doctor strange and the structure of the build. Thank you! This is what I was going for (a LEGO set.) Nice to see I did that well! It's also the sturdiest thing. I had dropped it quite a few times and only the wall fell off! Add another character, like Dormammu. the Eye and some cool relics and this is the Doc Strange set i'll be buying next year Thanks, but the goal of this or in my mind was to be a $12 set. I do however have some ideas on expanding it, as for now I don't want it to be too crowded but your suggestions are duly noted. This is spectacular! Great figures, build.. this would be a perfect Lego set! Thank you very much! Quote

kevkipo Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Well Nuff, you could make a small set with 3 characters. Remember Witch king battle? Quote
adotnamedstud Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 Well Nuff, you could make a small set with 3 characters. Remember Witch king battle? I probably could. I don't know, just don't want it to be too crowded I guess. Quote
