That brings back good memories :-)

There was once a whole gameshow with these kind of challenges called Takeshi's Castle. It was shown on German Television and when I saw it, I remember wanting to build the challenges in LEGO. Perhaps that would be an idea for you if you want to try something wacky?

Takeshis Castle is really old, but one of the coolest examples for stupid japanese shows -

("beat" Takeshi Kitano was the best comedian of the nation before he became a serious actor)
