supertruper1988 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 My first post on Euro Brick I modeled this after a 3000 Gallon Tank on a modern Kenworth Chassis. I have been building lego for 15+ years but I dont have a place to store my collection so its at my parents house until my wife and I buy a house. Alas, I am stuck building with LDD. I want my future layout to be all 8-wide, American Style trains (I love trains too haha) so that dictates that things should be build at about 2 plates per foot scale. I decided that means most big tracks will end up being 7 wide. 7 wide is very hard to build in as I have discovered! Here is a render of my first attempt at making a 7 wide vehicle. Here is the LDD file if anyone wants to check it out: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14398544/7%20wide%20truck%20Kenworth.lxf Quote
ilikeboomerang1 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 It looks good! Sadly, it can't be used in a road plate, unless you build one yourself. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Excellent seven wide truck, gets the tiger thinking ! Brick On Truck On 'cameronmiller1988' ! Quote

This truck is only 7 wide with the mirrors. The cab section is 6 wide + the wheel well and the wheels dont stick out as much as TLG official city sets. The more I look at it, the more the short nose bugs me. The wind sheild is too tall I think. Any one have any ideas? Quote

Dutchiedoughnut Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 The windshield might be too tall and too wide. US trucks are required to have a narrow cab by legislation. Thats why you see the sleeper cab stick out a lot. Depending on how big the real truck is, the nose might have to be taller. The big rigs have enormous radiators and a nose to match Quote
Dutchiedoughnut Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Just an addition. For inspiration I'm including a picture of the Kenworth I've been working on. The nose is 4 wide, but the sleepercab (at the back) is 6 wide. It's even 7 wide at the gas tanks. I'd like the mirrors to be a bit wider as they don't see past the sleeper at the moment. Quote
Sarles Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Stupid question, how did you get the blue background for the render. I really like the truck but I'm struggling with rendering my LDD designs so that I can create a use able set of instructions instead of the one that LDD comes up with. Quote
